DELTA State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has reassured Deltans of his administration’s commitment to continue to improve on the living standard of the people of the state through the state government’s SMART agenda initiative.

The Governor stated this at the weekend in Agbor, Ika South local government area of the state during the grand finale of a five-day annual national convention organised by the God’s Own Revolutionary Church (GOREC).

Represented by his Special Adviser, Local Government Affairs, Hon. Joseph Otirhue, Governor Okowa, while describing the theme of the convention, “Exceeding Greatness” as inspiring, urged participants at the event to take advantage of their spiritual encounter at the convention to imbibe the culture of becoming better ambassadors of Christ here on earth.

He said, “On our part as government, we are committed to the advancement of the standard of living of our people. This administration is mindful of the high expectations of our people towards good governance.

“Therefore, we are making all efforts to see that our people enjoy the dividends of democracy. The SMART agenda which is the cardinal policy of this administration has laid a formidable foundation for the prosperity of all Deltans covering various sectors.

“I wish to use this opportunity to call on our religious leaders to spread the good news about Christ and to encourage the flock of Christ to shun violence and embrace unity among us.

“This administration needs your support in prayers and encouragement of our people to be peace loving citizens and to partner with the state government to see to the development of the entire state” Governor Okowa Stated.

Speaking earlier in his address of welcome at the event held at the headquarters of the church, No148, Baleke Street, Agbor, the General Overseer of the Church, Revd. Prof. Oke Akokotu, while underscoring the spiritual import of the convention, said it affords participants the opportunity to rededicate their lives to the service of the Lord, just as he noted that there were deluge of testimonies of God’s faithfulness at the event.

The cleric who is also the Executive Secretary, Delta State Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board, used the forum to call on Deltans both at home and in the diaspora to continue to support the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, particularly, by ensuring that they vote for him again in the forth coming 2019 general elections.

According to him, the call has become important in order to enable the governor consolidate on his achievements so far, stressing that the Governor’s SMART agenda has, within the past three years of the current administration, enhanced the living standards of Deltans.
