Kanu is extremely popular on the back of his exploits at club level and in the olympics. That automatically made him noteworthy in SE. Hence he is a legend in Nigerian football generally. He is a legend arguably for most of the clubs he played for.

I don’t think Nigeria has produced legends post the Golden generation. Only a couple players could barely sneek in, Enyeama (he remains one of Nigeria’s best keepers ever), Mikel, I will put him a tab below the formentioned class. He may not be loved by the majority of Chelsea fans but was definitely an important player for Chelsea. His popularity during the tussle between ManU and Chelsea from his youth days, and his exploits in our junior team can hardly be forgotten many years to come. For the Super Eagles, he would be remembered especially for his contributions in 2013/2014.

Is Victor Moses a legend? He was a very important player for Chelsea in their EPL win a couple seasons ago, and as a matter of fact, our best player leading to the World Cup. I still think he needs to tick a couple check boxes to earn the right to be called a legend

edi287:

We are talking about achievements ON THE PITCH for the national team please.

Atlanta 96 was an age grade competition.

Vic Moses had a better AFCON than Sunday Mba. He has performed for us at the WCQ.

Vic Moses has performed just as well or even better in the super eagles than Kanu.

Did Kanu ever make the Afcon team of the tournament?

How many goals did Kanu score at AFCON and World Cup?

I watched super eagles very well in the 90's & up to 2010. Victor ikpeba is never a legend. How many matches did he play and with any memorable impact. Victor Moses is far better than him.

None are legends tbh. Ikpeba goals against Brazil, Bulgaria and Tunisia were memorable .

Against Brazil, his goal gave us a way back into the game.

Against Bulgaria, His goal took us to the second round of the WC.

His goals helped secure a win in the 2000 Afcon opening game.

VICMO retire. Something isnt right somewia.

Argurment so far. And comparision of legends status. Including mention of our golden era. One thing thats of note is vicmo hasnt pkay as much as our golden era. And with same set for that matter..

One thing is that there is no backbone in SE of late. Most and if not all the time Vicmo had to carry the ball from deep in middle to lunch attack. While others will b behinde him.

Put Vicmo among those players listed by ICON4s. And see the kinda magic that will hapen.

In all i fear for our Afcon hopes. Not to talk of qualifying.

As captainstephen said something isnt right . Chaiii it is well ooo

achievements make you popular. What you do at club level will make you the toast of Nigerian fans. So it’s hard to separate it really. Football na football

Arguably a Super Eagles legend on the back of World Cup performance alone.

He can hardly be forgotten so long as he holds that record. That’s legendary.

Moses our best player at afcon 2013,we won the tournament if he was our best player did he get the golden or silver ball ? Na back of tv u dey watch 2013

A guy named pitroipa was given the best player despite Burkinafaso loosing the final, just the way Modric won the golden ball at the World Cup

If there was a silver ball in that tournament it will go to emenike or mikel

From what you said,I repeat my self na back of tv you dey watch

Mind you emenike scored 4 goals and did 3 assist, and you dare to say that Moses was our best player,he only scored 2 penalty against Ethiopia

yes victor moses is a super eagles legend his national team record stacks up with our all time bests. Afcon? check. went to world cup? double check. played/playing with top clubs? check. his goal record coupled with his appearances is great. if Kanu who has a poorer record in comparison to vicmo is a legend then what are we arguing about? osaze better than vicmo? i don laugh tire.

victor will be missed but the emerging talent we have coming through should tide us over

you don't have to be a fan of the man but based on his records in the GWG he deserves huge accolades

Icon4s:
Talking about Victor Moses being a legend of the Nigerian game. This is subjective, depending on who you want to classify as a legend.

Let me role out my list of Nigerian legends and lets see if Victor Moses belongs to that Class.

Teslim "Thunder" Balogun
Christian Chukwu
Segun Odegbami
Adokiye Amiesimaka
Stephen Keshi
Rashidi Yekini
Emmanuel Amuneke
Austin Okocha
Finidi George
Daniel Amokachi (arguably)
Victor Ikpeba
Kanu Nwankwo
Sunday Oliseh
Peter Rufai
Vincent Enyeama

Does Victor Moses belong to that Class? I don't think so.

kanu arsenal legend? looooooooooooooooool grin. personally i like kanu for his skills and humanitarian works but if we decide to remove sentiments and judge him solely on his career in the senior national team hmmm my sister alot of myths would be broken o

by the way atlanta olympics was largely an under age tournament

safarigirl:
Atlanta 96 was Nigeria's first trophy at that level on the World Stage.

AFCON was not out first.

Kanu is also an Arsenal legend

Moses is not a Chelsea legend

If you want to give Moses legend status based on AFCON, then Sunday Mba should also be a Nigerian football legend.

Kanu started a heart foundation that has helped millions, what has Moses helped anybody do?

You assume being a legend is solely about football. It is not just about playing a game, it is about the sacrifices you make in the process of playing.

Which sacrifice has Moses ever made for the GwG? He used the team to elevate himself, but never did anything to his own detriment for the sake of the team. Nigga was a selfish ass mofo and he wasn't even good enough to cover up for it. Not one record worthy of note on any stage. Is that your legend?

Moses is not a Legend, he's not even a Hero or a Star, maybe he could be a Guinness because he's made of black

To me Vicmo attd to national team was poor,I dont like his attd eida, but i dont care since he plays well for us,WC I feel most peeps re hiding under to downgrade his performance for us,but sentiment aside,Vicmo was our best player after d 2014 world cup, most especially d penultimate year b4 2018 world cup.

Personally I don't think any of the current SE players should be considered a legend. I mean we have missed three AFCONs and we are not even top of our AFCON group right about now.

To Musa specifically, AFCON 2013 he was a no-show. Yes he scored two goals at the WC but we lost that game, what does that make Osaze whose goals won us the game that actually qualified us for the second round? What about Kalu Uche who scored all our goals at the 2010 WC bar a penalty which till today I do not understand why Yakubu did not just give it to him. Are those guys legends too? Then he scored two goals against Iceland. I am not hitting on him but these are hardly legend worthy, you can say that he will be remembered but not as a legend. To make the point clearer I never watched Teslim Balogun but I knoenof him, true legend. some of these kids do not even know who Uche Okechukwu is although I grade him as one of our best defenders ever, to me he is a great player but not a legend, his name might eventually be forgotten.
