Investment in real business is better than T bills in terms of returns. Rice farming with 150naira can generate 1m naira in 3 months. My rice farming is doing well now and my prayer is that herdsmen will not attack the farm. No risk no money.

150 naira 1m in 3months??

I dont understand your comment?

The minimum is actually N50m when buying via PMA, but banks pull funds from different clients to make up that amount.

As a result, even if someone has 100,000, the banks will collect and add to others to bid as a whole.

The minimum used to be N10,000

mainaugustine:
the minimum you can invest with for t bills is 1mil.

I plan to buy treasury bills at the end of the month, is it wise to still go ahead and how do I do it?

Thanks Prof. So if i invest now, more money for me ?

Sorry for talking like a layman...i am one. grin
Treasury bill is fixed for the period it carries. So you already know what you would earn from the day you bought till maturity. You can gain from treasury bill in two ways:
1.from the interest rate on the bill(11% in this case, so if you invest 2m, your interest will be 0.11*2m divided by 12 months(if its one year)
2.from reinvestment of proceeds at a lower amount.
So, you will gain because the interest on the Treasury bill is fixed unlike shares.
If you have enough money like 5m, pls tell your broker to help you buy 5m worth of TB. It is a lucrative one.

What's FD pls?
romenna:
I rather continue with my monthly 14% FD than this abeg.

P.S:
This is for those asking me to tell them the bank that can give them such ROI.
FD with most FIs is negotiable.
Your negotiating power is a factor of the value of ur proposed investment.
Cheers

Wah is d meaning of T bills
Treasury bills are short term debt instruments which is issued by government like Nigerian government through CBN to control money supply, it also doesn't yield interest, it is also used to control money supply in the economy.

Please house, if I bought TB at 13% and I didn't wait until maturity before selling in the secondary market at 11% .. would I make a profit from the low rate?
Considering I sold about 50 days to maturity for a dull tenor(364) days..
You will make profit but not as much as you will gain when you wait till the maturity period.

Cost of borrowing has gone down, and hence, persons, corporate bodies, institutions can access more credits-more money running after investment so treasury bill rate will increase
But CBN said that interest rate will soon be increased, they are trying to curb too much money in circulation to reduce further inflation, so what I'm saying in ernest is that cost of borrowing will be going up soon due to election and to curb looming inflation.

Oh!, on the part of increase cost of borrowing-it was an oversight error. Got your analysis.

Thank you for the replies @jolyment and colourich..

with a principal of 1M at 13% for 364days,
To break it down, i would gain 13%* 1000000=N130,000 as interest..
On selling 50 days to end of tenor, that interest will be reduced by 130,000*50/364=N17,857.14..
Meaning I would be left with=N112,142.857(excluding transaction charges).
My qtn is, where does the extra interest come in by selling at 11% in the secondary market?
Thank you..
Other experts can assist me on this, thank you.
