The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, returned to Nigeria earlier today after the death of his mother, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson, popularly known as Mama Gogo in the United States. He was received on arrival at the Port-Harcourt International Airport by the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Foster Ogola, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Benson, members of the State House of Assembly and other important dignitaries. According to reports, the governor became emotional and sorrowful as he broke down in tears in front of those who came to welcome and sympathise with him. Mrs Gold Coast Dickson passed away at the age of 72. She died of cancer on August 9th at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, Texas where she had been receiving treatment. Governor Dickson expressed appreciation to the Centre especially the team of medical professionals who did their best to save the life of his mother.
