If he's living on a loan, he'd accrue extra interest because he would not be paying it back from this crop and his livelihood would take a significant hit.

If this is God being wonderful, this farmer would be praying that in future, God goes and does it's business elsewhere please, and bloody leave his apple orchard alone!

You wouldn't drink juice from these apples. They fell so are not fit for consumption. Within a day bruises will show on them and any juice from them would be bitter. And that's if they were ripe before they fell, which I doubt, because, if they were the farmer would have harvested them before the storm, which he'd have known was coming because he'd have seen the weather forecast.

But as luck would have it, the windfalls did not end up bruised and useless because the orchard was flooded as a result of the bad weather.

But I doubt there wouldn't be a considerable loss. Apples falling on one another is bound to bruise more than if they had been carefully plucked off the tree. They do bruise easily.

I grow oranges. If they fall off the tree as opposed to someone climbing the tree to pluck them, they go off quickly due to bruising.

We used to have about 5 Guava Trees in my Dad's house in Lagos from the early 80's to around the year 2003. The Guava trees used to shed their fruit on the floor of the compound too whenever the wind blew hard. Very similar to the pictures above. Agriculture needs to take the main stage in Nigeria once more. We have very fertile soils.
