Central Bank of Nigeria has failed to checkmate the excesses of the banking industry.

This is painful though.

Despite the huge profits after tax they make annually, they cannot send out birthday messages to their clients free of charge.

Oga close that account NOW or one day you will pay for them charges (BVN and credit score things) so if you like run to another bank, there's no escape. Meanwhile, FIRS has joined the fray o, they can now FREEZE YOUR ACCOUNT if they say you owe them tax (unless that is not implemented if Nigerians rise up). That's the world we are living in today. What you have is not yours, you work for the government and the banks. (ps. That's why trading forex is not gambling, it's the best business to be in. You own a share of the banks and govts in turn, you just gotta know how).

The biggest scam which not everyone knows is, they will send you birthday wishes sms on your birthday and later deduct the money for the text.

Please, I need the bankers and Insurance expert to advise me on this issue; it happens that, I obtained an unsecured personal loan from Stanbic Ibtc Bank in the year 2014 in which I subscribed to Pesonal Loan Protective Plan(PLPP) Insurance with Stanbic Insurance Brokers and a premium of certain amount had been deducted from my account on monthly basis based on a standing order that I signed with the bank which I believed was been remitted to insurance accordingly. I was regular in my monthly loan repayment as well as my monthly PLPP premium until January 2017 when employment was terminated. Upon received of my termination letter, I approached the bank with a copy of my termination letter notifying the bank of the development. All this why, I expected the bank to have approached insurance for a claim of the outstanding balance of the loan as stated in the policy. Now that I want to start making use of the account, I observed that the account is still in debit with acummulative debit interest. Please, I need your asisstance to ensure that the claim is paid to the bank according because I have been to the bank and discuss this but it seems the bank remains adamount.

FIRSTBANK STILL COLLECTS MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE FOR A CARD THAT EXPIRED 5 MONTHS AGO.
I DON'T GET ALERT FOR THIS TRANSACTION, I ONLY NOTICE WHEN I DECIDE TO CHECK MANUALLY.
IN THEIR MINDS THEY'RE SMART AND ARE DEALING WITH ME SECRETLY. cheesy
I NEVER GET THEIR TIME FIRST.

money saved in a bank allows the bank to use it for business.......this alone should be enough to settle its running cost among others. but when it comes to extortion.....it's called stealing.

imagine, using an ATM that as been coded to dispense 10k so you can be charge 65.0 on each withdrawal. meanwhile in Benin republic the ATM there dipsense the total amount you are allowed in a day at once.
Mehn, na that one dey pain pass. Double capping. Similar to the telecoms capping u with both limited GB and time. Nnah, just to make sure o.

Banking in several African countries is far better than many developed countries. Especially mobile banking

In Norway for example, interbank transfers take 24hrs. SMS notification charge is equivalent to N170.
I prefer Nigerian banking style by far especially when buying bitcoins. Charge me just N52 and do my transfer instantly.

You are right. Exactly what I was just thinking. Nigerians need to start speaking out so that these banks will be reminded that we are the ones doing them favour since they make profits from our saved money through loans to others.

I know if I start talking about this particular bank, people will be wondering if any sensible person still patronize them, but you can't blame me cos its not my fault.
In NYSC camp we were compelled to open account with any bank our tag number falls under as we were divided among the banks present. After the account was activated people were receiving 2050 naira from keystone but I was not given, I waiter for days but mine never came and I simply gave up on them. We were all given our ATM cards when leaving camp and 1050 was deducted from those that received 2050. After the stress we went through, my dearest bank was unable to pay us allawee and we had to supply another bank details to receive that.
After my first allawee I decided to transfer some amount into my keystone account and they removed 1050 immediately (in my mind, yea that should be for the card). Two months later I received a debit alert of 2050 on my phone with a message stating(ATM RECOVERY FEE). I visited their nearest branch the following week and hitherto, they couldn't explain why the money was deducted. I requested for a refund (for where, maybe next year)

The other time Access bank charged me 350naira for SMS alert and I was wondering if we were chatting, even my Whatsapp doesn't consume 350naira per month.. I ttayya for all of them!!!

grin Village people after you.

UBA charge N50 for transfer to other banks. i wonder if your UBA is different.

UBA charge me N11 for transfer to other banks when I use the Mobile App. But I think it's restricted to a number of transactions because I was charged N52 for the last transfer I made last month after several transfers (I didn't keep track of the number of transfers I made though)

we said KEEP OFF!!!
I am not and will never be in support of Nigerian banks stealing because I know how fraudulent they are in charging people's accounts illegally sometimes. But Nigerians must learn to confront any unfair challenges rather than run to social media to make noise.

I was using UBA and they were charging me anyhow, I simply transferred my money to GTB for good to avoid UBA wahala and I have abandoned them for years now.
At a time, GTB was charging me recklessly for SMS. I called customer care and they directed me to my online banking portal where I unsubscribed from SMS alerts myself, and no charges since then.

It cost money to send SMS, effect transfer (Nibss must make money as an organisation) and they have to charge for such services or run at a loss.
But if you are debited illegally or cheated in any way, do something about it rather than run to social media to cry foul. That's how I live my life cos I totally abhor cheating.

Most times I see these banks declare billions of naira quarterly as profits, I nod my head in disbelief seeing the extent these banks are looting us.
As for my bank,UBA,na them robb pass. I remember a time I withdrew #10k and got a #10,500 debit alert and I began to wonder what the extra #500 was for.
Another time, the debit alert I received was #44 more than the actual amount withdrawn.
Dem go pay salary, the same bank go still commot #105 from me as service fee.
Card maintenance fee is another charge that gets me cranked up,I mean, how're you maintaining a card that's in my wallet? And a time I went for another ATM card, these fraudster still charged me.
The Nigerian banking system is nothing short of a reformed Ponzi scheme

Nothing is free when it comes to having an account with a bank all over the world. You'd to have to cough out certain amount if you have an account with any bank.
