Pls I have a question. I know this might not be the exact correct thread but forgive me in advance. My Mum wants to come visit me. This will be her 2nd visa. She was granted 6months visiting previously. Like before she sponsors herself flight, etc but we are thinking I should write a letter inviting her and stating she will be staying at my house otherwise she will apply with hotel booking as usual. The main reason is incase she stays longer. Usually if she does hotel booking it’s max 2weeks. But if I invite her it might help elongate stay potentially. Am I overthinking things? Should we just keep it simple and she books her hotel as usual then stays as long as she likes within her visa limit? Also is it true that you should not stay longer than 3months at a stretch in the UK on a visiting visa else they won’t allow you in next time? Please those who know answer me. Thank you very much. |

Mamatukwas:100% send proper documentations and sponsor her application..... She should not exceed 6 months on any particular entry (say about 5 months plus)....... |

Lexusgs430:@Oga Lexus430,I would add that to play safe, she can still show may be her pension or business account then in the cover letter, her daughter can still say she is sponsoring her trip completely. At least,it shows her Mum has means of sustenance in Nigeria.Home office are very mean,it's always advisable when dealing with them to err on the side of caution. |

veleta:Yes, her Mum can produce personal financial documentations. But she would word her invitation letter appropriately..... |

| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 11:35pm On Sep 10, 2018 |
Mamatukwas:Would be nicer if it's a joint application. You + hubby combination + rent agreement or mortgage deed (accommodation must not look overcrowded) + both bank statements (ensure no negative balance) etc etc etc |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Mamatukwas: 12:01am On Sep 11, 2018 |
Lexusgs430:Wow! But it’s still the normal visiting visa they will give her abi? What’s the advantage of this route. Plus the woman has saved all the money to apply and is raring to go? I don’t want to go and sponsor now and there will be coma ![]() |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 12:14am On Sep 11, 2018 |
Mamatukwas:So long as your documentations are locked down and carry plenty weight, they would never reject your application...... She gets normal visiting visa (6 months - 24 months) multiple entry...... |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by fatima04(op): 7:35am On Sep 11, 2018 |
Mamatukwas:It is still the same visiting visa and it's all about your documentation being packaged very well including her financial statement and showing ties back to Nigeria. I think stating she would be here for 3months or more on the application may be disadvantageous. |

Mamatukwas:I stated that my mum will be here for about 5 months and she was granted visa. She's retired and the trip was sponsored. We just showed that we could cater for all her expenses. |

dustydee:Wow thank you! Do you mind telling me what you used to sponsor? Documents I mean Abi is it what I’m thinking:- Letter of Introducing stating our relationship and that I’m inviting her to visit for x duration? - Account statements - Resident permit copy Or can someone point me to a link that has the requirements if you want to sponsor someone pls. I haven’t seen it before. Also if she is being sponsored the income part of the application form where they ask you accommodation money, spending money etc do we write N/A or still approximate an amount. I can pm you if prefer. Thank you. |

Mamatukwas:My wife and I included or payslips and rental agreement(which I didn't feel was relevant). There was also a cover letter when we did the first application but the second one didn't have one save for the explanation in the application letter, explaining her income and other situations that the documents didn't clearly reflect. see excerpt below explaining her income in the form: My bank statement does not reflect all the money i receive in support as some of it is given to me cash. The livestock i mentioned is being taken care of on my behalf by a herdsman so I have no documentary evidence for it.Letter of invitation had these attachments to support the application (most of which were not necessary but I lost the argument so it was included) Accompanying this letter are the following supporting documents for your application and as requested by the UK boarder agency: |

Hello house, Please I have two questions: a) is it possible to fill out a visitor visa application for someone in Nigeria from the UK? b) For anyone that has sponsored a visitor's visa from the UK - how did you submit your supporting documents i.e. payslips and bank statements? Were there sent to the UKVI office or did you send them to the person applying in Nigeria? Thanks. |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 4:22am On Sep 13, 2018 |
chiinj:A - Simply request log on details...... B - The applicant submits documents in Nigeria. So sponsor has to find a way to send original documents + biometric copy...... |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by nomad26: 9:30pm On Sep 13, 2018 |
Chiinj, just to add this: from my personal experience sponsoring my parents, I didn't need to post any original documents. I simply downloaded online copies of my bank statement, together with electronic copies of my payslip, sent via email to my mum and she printed them to submit at the visa centre. Even the invitation letter, I signed it electronically and also sent via email. So if you can, just send your documents via email to your visitor. Lexusgs430: |

Good day house. I intend to register with a GP in the coming week. Besides my passport and BRP do I need any other documents? I one read a comment on this thread where someone reported that she was asked to get a letter from home office, do I need any such letter? I'm not reporting sick but I've been advised to just register. Thanks. |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 6:58pm On Sep 15, 2018 |
sutelk:Just your passport, proof of address (bank statement) and brp will do. |
