Nairobi has grown into the largest shopping centre in Sub-Saharan Africa outside of South Africa with 6.5m square feet of retail space. The city accumulated more than 4.5m square feet over an 8-year period growing from 2m sqft in 2010 to 6.5m sqft in 2018 and is projected to reach 7.8m sqft by 2020. According to Knight Frank Shop Africa report for 2018, growth in retail space has proceeded at a compounded annual growth rate of 15.9% over the past eight years. Growth in the city’s population and a growing middle class who are increasingly shopping in malls has raised the demand for retail space. The developers have been encouraged by the city’s improving infrastructure and changing lifestyles as more Kenyans gain access to disposable incomes. A wealth report released yesterday by global wealth monitoring group Wealth-X ranked Kenya as one of the top 10 countries with the fastest growth in the number of ultra-high net worth individuals, a reflection of the changing income dynamics in the Kenyan populace.

Before the dust settles on news of the ongoing construction of Africa’s tallest building in Upper Hill, Nairobi, something is happening at the Kenyan coast. A new skyscraper proposed for Watamu in Malindi threatens to unseat The Pinnacle even before its completion. Standing 61 stories high, the Palm Exotjca, the designers say the building will be the tallest tower in all of Kenya and by extension, Africa. At an overtowering height of 370m high, the tower is set to be the ultimate mark of the coastal skyline, adding to the coastal towns increasing clout as a luxury tourism hub.

In a bid to ease traffic to and from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and around Nairobi, and also decongest the city centre, the road is being converted into a major six-lane thoroughfare, complete with interchanges as well as service and bus lanes, among other features. For the real estate sector, this means more profit as more investors, businesses and corporate meetings are bound to be directed to the area, calling for more developments in terms of both office blocks and residential apartments.

LEGEND Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge smashed the Marathon World Record by whooping 77 seconds! The most significant improvement since 1967 (during the second Coup in Naija ). Incredibly, he ran the second half even faster than the first!!! This guy is the absolute GOAT. Top Trend Globally! Its awesome to be Kenyan!

The new World Record wasnt all, on the female side Kenya also won the Berlin Marathon breaking the Course Record! And then ponder this. Kenya sent just three male athletes with the three medal slots in mind. Our athletes are so efficient that we just need to send three to scoop the three medals on offer, i.e 100 % efficiency. If there were four medals say; Gold, Silver, Bronze, Tanzanite, we would have sent 4 athletes. Anyway, we need an interplanetary competition. It has been proven enough times that earthlings are not on our level. We are now producing superhuman athletes.

At long last, the missing piece from Eliud Kipchoge’s incredible résumé has been filled. The greatest marathoner in history and the marathon world record holder are now one and the same— the 33-year-old Kenyan ran 2:01:39 (4:38/mile) on Sunday morning in Berlin to obliterate Dennis Kimetto’s 2:02:57 mark that had stood since 2014. Simply put, Kipchoge’s performance today in the German capital is one of the greatest athletic achievements in world history. It certainly will go down as one of greatest spectacles the sport of running has ever seen, and will likely be a record that will stand for many years to come in the marathon. Unless Kipchoge himself surpasses his mark from Sunday, the record may never be broken. Perhaps the most remarkable split of Kipchoge’s run was the 60:33 final 13.1 miles the Kenyan ran coming home. Kipchoge crushed the majority of the second half by himself— the final pacer dropped out just past 25k— after hitting the half marathon in 61:06. https://www.flotrack.org/articles/6249234-20139-eliud-kipchoge-obliterates-world-record-in-berlin |
