No! Don't renew your passport before submitting. When you've finally received your stamped visa passport, you can then renew it. Make sure while travelling to Canada you take along with you the expired/old passport and the new/renewed one. At POE you will be asked to present the expired travel document containing the valid Canadian visa together with the new/renewed travel document lacking a Canadian visa. The immigration officer at POE will issue you a study permit on your new acquired passport.

Hi, I am new here and i do not know how it really work here but i need you advise,

I submitted my application for Canadian student visa but am yet to get a final decision from the embassy

I submitted online - 8th of July 2017
Did my biometric - 24th of July 2017

I checked mycic account but the last update there was "checking background information"

Is it a refusal because i need to know so i can re-apply?

Pay stubs, employment letter, bank statement of sponsor (my brother who is a Canadian citizen) about 50k CAD balance

Quebec's certificate of acceptance

Admission letter, graduate diploma Biotechnology and Genomics, Concordia

I discovered that I mistakenly failed to declare my previous US refusal and did not complete the family info form, so I had to send several CSE to report these errors.


I sent my transcript, 4.79/5.0 Biochemistry, mum's landed property doc, upfront medical sheet via Webform.

I finished my BSc this year.

I fasted and prayed. Lol


I applied to withdraw my application on Friday 14th Sept.

Passport request today!!
