Celebrations of the holy Muslim day of Ashura is continuing around the globe, with sacred self-flagellation rituals leaving worshippers covered in blood.

The holiday is celebrated by Shiite Muslims, and mourns the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, on the battlefield in the 7th Century.

The gory ceremonies, which sees males of all ages cut themselves across the scalp, or whip themselves with blades attached to chains, are meant to commemorate Imam Hussein's violent end.

I am not a Shia nor Sunni. But try to understand this.
This ritual of self flagellation is somewhat similar to that of Mexican / Philipino Christians. When I try to verify online on it. I realised it is more of an emotional practice that takes one more closer to their beloved. There are this so much love of their beloved that they want to feel (taste) the pain that He went through. Not all Catholics engage in self flagellation, likewise only ~5% Shias engage in self flagellation.

I condemn this act but we should not see as it is only partaning to Muslim only
