Pls I need more information. I thought the shares of shareholders from the defunct Intercontinental bank was automatically converted to access bank shares. I am still waiting for further information from access bank because I was affected and had a large unit of shares from the defunct bank and thinking that was the case.
Contact the
registrar of access bank shares he/she 'll guide u on what to do to recover whatever units that is remaining from the acquisition.(what I really mean was what happened in the case of Bank PHB,where it was acquired by keystone bank & share holders, shares were wiped off from the exchange).

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has withdrawn the operating license of Skye Bank.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefile announced the decision of Friday evening in Lagos.

Polaris Bank has been established to assume ownership of the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank.

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has injected N786bn in the new bank.

The management of the defunct bank was however retained for its good performance.

The defunct Skye Bank has been on CBN’s lifeline since July 2016 and the apex bank says it can no longer continue to intervene to keep the balance liquid.?

Yall should honestly calm down. The Nigerian banking system is safer than ever.

CIBN is using the bridge banking method to ensure that depositors don't lose confidence in the banking sector.

You are safe. Just chill.

This is a case of acquisition. Customers funds are safe, I can't say the same for existing staff. Banking has far evolved beyond the point where a bank will go down with depositors funds, thanks to the increment in required capital base of banks, that is aside other ratios that should be maintained.

Skye bank is not liquid, they don't have cash to meet their short term obligations...which includes paying all of you. So, don't rush there on Monday grin grin. Be nice wink

I have some money with Skyebank but from the cbn news release, depositors funds are safe, polarise is acquiring Skyebank just like when skye acquired main street bank
So I advice depositors to chill. There may restrictions on how much we can withdraw or transfer but overall we should stay calm.
Experts come in please.....

Yes you're right about graduates like you who are not employable. Besides, I am now employer of labour after a successful career.

Your comment reeks of ignorance as if you didn't read or didn't understand the post. Now I understand why many Nigerian graduates aren't employable

This should have happened long term ago when the largest shareholder was using the bank money for political donation in 2015.
Everybody will account for their deeds on earth to their creator
heed101:
What's k.illing Nigeria's bank lies in the bank. The management. They will want to enjoy perks at the detriment people's fund and this habit is embedded in the system. The billion pumped in by cbn will be embezzled by management. They share monies as if they contribute to it. They rather make decision that enriches them the more. They are worse than buhari present day government. This will continue until a framework on management governance is drawn to cut excessive power used by the Mds and Ed's to siphon deposit and preparing a window dressed financial statement.

Just look at how ignorant you are. During the 2007/2008 economic crisis, the biggest banks in the world; Citibank, BOA, others, practically failed and even the biggest insurance corporations in America declared bankruptcy. So what are you saying?
Oga, dey read o.
