Hello all,
I want to ask what's the minimum wage an immigrant can secure. Here in Nigeria, my basic salary is 240k.
I want to be sure what I'm getting myself into before I join the pool, my point is still at 410, hoping if I had a diploma it will increase to 468 point.

Please At the point of signing ones COPR when the immigration official asks for a Canadian address, if the person is staying in an AirBNB, and hasn’t found his own place, what address does he put?

here is an answer someone posed to folks who have worries like yours.............

For those who still call me to tell me that after getting this copr that they are stuck with decision to leave the known to an unknown. .
I laugh. .cos they don't even realize that Nigeria is the unknown while Canada is the known..
Cos in Canada I know where I am going. .I project what I want to achieve in real time with God on my side...I know when my kids will graduate from school. .I know when I dial 911 what will happen....I know when my kids benefit support will come and when it will stop. . I know that if I put in 900hrs in any job and gets laid off I have employment insurance that will he paid on timely and regular basis to sustain me for one and half year until I find another job if i wish to. ..I know that my pregnant wife will go into labour and I don't need to think of which side of road I need to follow to avert traffic to get her to the clinic and I know that when she gets to the clinic she will he received by smiling humane doctors and nurses who are happy to do their job and welcome the little one into this beautiful world and not doctors and nurses who curse and swear while they manage to help the wife deliver with generator light. .and I know I don't need to pay a dime for my wife to deliver be it natural or via surgical. .I know too that life matters here and that even animals life matters too..I know also that I may not ever be Dangote in Canada but I know I don't need to struggle to live a life. ..I know that I don't need to get scared when my car skids of the road cos 3 ambulances. .4 police vehicles and 3 EMS will rush to rescue me alive in seconds. .I know when I file my tax I either get a refund or repayment and where my tax works for me..
That is known..

The unknown which we call known that is Nigerian where I don't know when my kids will graduate from school...I don't know what next will happen if I am laid off my job..I don't know what Maina did with my pension money..I don't know who will take care of the senior citizens when they can't access the fruit of their labour as pensioners. .I don't have a 911 to dial in case of emergency. ..I don't know who will rescue me in case of accident when everybody is out with his phone taking videos and pictures to be the first to post on Facebook of agonies and pains of accident victims until they are dead for lack of help. .I don't know what the govt thinks about us...I don't know when in my lifetime I will turn the light and expect light or when I will turn the tap and have any of my choice of hot or cold water without depending on borehole. .I don't know when I will also use only my passport with taking it to the pastor to fast and pray for 4 months to get common visa...when wil it be...I don't know...I don't know when the govt will start to pay child benefit support and senior citizens support...and I don't even know when I will know anything. .

My dear people. ..for me I can only chose where I was told "welcome home" with smiles and love over where I was asked "oga wetin you bring come back for us" with anger and frustration.
I decide to choose where I am made a host even though I am a guest over where I was a made a guest even though I am the host.

The unknown is Nigeria and the known for me is Canada.
I am short of words to describe this articulate and incredibly inspiring write up. For those of us who develop cold feet at one point or the other.

You will have to provide a temporary address, in this case the Airbnb one. Then if you get another accommodation before your PR card is finalised, call them on 888-242-2100 and change the address. Alternatively, if you have an address of a family member or close friend who is already settled in Canada, you could use that for your PR card because getting CIC on the phone is quite difficult.

Also, ensure you link your PR card application to your account so you will be first to know when the PR card is approved or further details are required.

Best of luck!

If you don't plan to leave the aiports, you don't need a transit Visa.

These seems to be just a normal travel itinerary

itzppr:

No, it's just one stop for both flights. Paris for the first leg of the flight and then Amsterdam for the return flight.

It's like this. Lagos - Paris - Toronto and Toronto - Amsterdam - Lagos.

What do you think?

Congratulations once again.

Grace Found Me....

Landed Edmonton yesterday night...

Left for Abuja airport by 9.30am, my flight was by 1.27pm via Ethiopian Airline. 2 adults, 2 infants.... Planned to carry 5 luggage of 23kg each and the rest as hand luggage, although I was entitled to 4 pics of 23kg and 2 pcs of 10kg... Already weighed my luggage with a gas sellers scale (those guys dey reap people off) and all my bags were overweight almost 28kg... Just said I'll take them like that and see how it goes at the airport.. At the airport discovered that none of my luggages was even up to 23kg!! Had to include some of my hand luggage as check-in. So in total 6 bags of all twenty-something kg.

The flight from Abuja to Ethiopia was good, not great food but twas constant... Had an empty seat by our side so we maximized the space... In-flight Entertainment was good, just that my son (1yr 11months) was a hands full... Dreaded the takeoff & landing and was running temp....

Arrived Ethiopia and boarded the one that's bound for Toronto via Dublin... The crew were very nice, changed my seat to one where I could use a bassinet (twas a life saver) they provided . Didn't know what a bassinet was but just responded positive when asked if I'll like to have one..lol. my 5 months infant was placed there so at least my wife had some space and that made the entire space in front of us ours, so we just converted it to a bed, na so my wife and 1st son lie down for ground there like say we dey "economic bizness class". After boarding, the flight was about to take off but just didn't go, we were later told there were some technical issues, na so we dey inside for more than 2 hrs for a flight that we will spend more than 15hrs on....

Finally we landed Toronto safely and I was completely EXHAUSTED.... I just couldn't fill all the forms I printed earlier to make the landing faster..... I just filled the declaration card we were given on the plane.... Traveling that distance with 2yrs old is enough stress on its own. Went straight to one of the officers I was directed to by one warri boy (he introduced himself and I said I be phc boy...lol) that works in the airport there, too exhausted to even know her position.. She asked if any accompanying goods, I said no, she just ruled my card and directed us to immigration.... Queue wast much, got to my turn and I just said I came for landing, presented our visas and copr, was asked how much cash I was with and I said 4000usd. We were asked to wait for our paperwork to be completed... After about 10mins we were called and asked some statoury questions like have you been convicted of any crime blah blah blah.... We provided our house address(already signed a 1yr lease for an apartment)., signed our copr, guess the agent was new cos she was asking her colleagues who should sign for the infants (PA or mother). After which we were told "welcome to Canada ". Purposely planned to miss my connecting flight cos twas another more than 4hr flight to Edmonton...so I went and processed our SIN numbers, claimed our luggages and proceeded to Air Canada where we we're rebooked, checked in our bags, grabbed something to bite....finally boarded after about 2hrs.... My son was still showing working by his constant crying.... Everybody around us offered assistance, they gave him color books, drinks, showed him cartoons on their phones, they were generally nice... Another grandparents loved the smaller boy (we couldn't get close seats) that stayed with us @ the airport when we arrived, introduced us to their children who we ended up having coffee with before they left... One of our bags was didn't come to Edmonton with us. They promised to deliver it to my house this morning, so I gave my sisters address instead since Im yet to move in......finally my in-law came and we drove home.

I remember reading landing gists on this thread, and wondering when I will write my own....

All in all, while leaving the airport,i just had a fear of this is for real, now the real WORK starts then it just dawned on me God's faithfulness to me and I realized that my AOR (JULY 3RD) to Landing (SEPT 28)was less than 3 months.....then I became confident again that that

I came in with Antimalaria and aboniki and ori and rub. Didn't have any issues and we were not selected for additional search or questioning. Don't over pack though, do all in moderation.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate this.

Naajjii:

You can open Canada cheque in account and also open US dollar account , so you have money in both cnd and usd with TD bank.
I think you should go for mobilicity/ Chatr network , no contract you pay like $35 a month. You can change to another network if you settle later on .

Hello family,Please I need your input on this, I have submitted my express entry application awaiting my ppr mail, But I have this issue bothering me and it's on what I can do when I eventually get to Canada, I am a customer service officer in one of the new generation banks and this is my 10th year in this unit, I have done my Acca more than half away, but presently i don't think I want to continue with Acca am seriously thinking of going into health care since its in high demand in Canada but then again I don't have a background in science. My question is can I go into nursing or any other health related programme in canada without chemistry and biology.

grin grin grin so in your mind now, 240k basic is a lot of money ? When people who earn 1 million naira monthly sef dey relocate sharply.
My friend who was working in the oil sector earning mad money left for Canada. He currently does a survival job in Canada now while trying to get a job in his field and you know what ? He is even glad to go to work and do the survival job because you will soon realise that the money you earn in Nigeria no matter how much cannot guarantee you the basic need of life for a decent human being.

In this same Nigeria a sitting attorney general and Minister of Justice was murdered in cold blood, in his own home, like a fowl and the sad part is that let me not even say the sad part.........

How can a sitting attorney general and minister of justice of a whole country like Nigeria be murdered in his own home ?
These kind of things tell you that Nigeria is a classic example of a failed state and just like someone said, in 10 years time Nigeria will even be in much more dire situation.

So every sane person now will do everything legal to get out of this sh******thol***

It’s not compulsory to add an address. As for the phone number, people have been able to use some apps like freetone to get a Canadian number.
