Rohr subsidized our midfield to accommodate our overpopulos attackers.
Hope it pays at the end of the two legged tier.

[quote author=safarigirl post=71690963]Rohr's list for the Libyan double-header

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (Elche FC, Spain); Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Enyimba FC); Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United, South Africa)

Defenders: Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy); Abdullahi Shehu (Bursaspor FC, Turkey); Semi Ajayi (Rotherham United, England); Bryan Idowu (Lokomotiv Moscow, Russia); Chidozie Awaziem (FC Porto, Portugal); William Ekong (Udinese FC, Italy); Leon Balogun (Brighton & Hove Albion, England); Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain); Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn 07, Germany)

Midfielders: Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor FC, Turkey); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke City FC, England); John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel)

Forwards: Ahmed Musa (Al Nasr FC, Saudi Arabia); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Moses Simon (Levante FC, Italy); Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray SK, Turkey); Odion Ighalo (Changchun Yatai, China); Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England); Samuel Kalu (Bordeaux FC, France); Isaac Success (Watford FC, England)[/quote

No creative midfielder in the list apart from Alex Iwobi who is listed as a forward, we really need creative AMFs and CMFs in the Super Eagles

TheSuperNerd:
Our possible XI ahead of the Libya game in a 4-2-3-1 formation set-up based on the list.

With this list, the possibilities in the attack are enormous. Multiple kinds of combos in the starting XI would still guarantee a strong bench in attack.

We know Ighalo will start as the No.9 in the first leg unless.... wink

Well in all, we know Success is coming for that no 9 shirt. So Ighalo better be on his toes and buckle up really fast.

But the three guys behind the no.9... aha.. this is where it gets really exciting... smiley

For the AM role, Iwobi. Or would Rohr wanna have both Iheanacho and Iwobi on the pitch together again? In that set-up, we could see Iwobi as LMF, Nacho as AMF and Kalu as RMF.

But with Iwobi as AMF, we could have Musa as LMF and Kalu as RMF.

Onyekuru is not likely to start. Simon Moses starting depends on if Rohr benches our likely Captain Musa or an Iwobi if not I doubt Simon would start.

Success' time will come. I reckon he may get game time depending on Ighalo'a output upfront in these two Libya games.

In Central and defensive midfield, we would see Ndidi likely pairing Onazi again leaving Etebo and Ogu on the bench.

In defence, I expect Aina to start ahead of Shehu at RB as Shehu is just returning to action while Aina has been turning heads in Italy with his solid performances. I hope he convinces further in camp to seal that spot too. In Ebuehi's absence, I reckon with Aina over Shehu. A fit and in form Shehu may edge it but he is just returning while Aina has been balling at both RWB and LWB. I just feel Aina should win the battle for that starting slot at RB.

At LB, I think Rohr will stick with Idowu. Collins will have to play second fiddle again. Mind you Aina is also another option at LB if Rohr goes with Shehu at RB and feels Aina should be deployed on the left.. you may never know with this man sometimes. Lol

In Central defence, We expect to see the Oyibo wall in action together again since they last played together against Argentina at Russia 2018. Ekong and Balogun easily starts.

Semi Ajayi, Awaziem (yet to get games under his belt), and Omeruo (also yet to feature) will all bench.

In goal, the last line of defence, of course we know Uzoho starts again as he seeks to get his 5th clean sheet in his 11th cap for the Super Eagles.

Ezenwa and Akpeyi are mere backups and I, honestly, am pretty tired of seeing them on the list but I guess we have to deal with it for now.
Better options like Dele Ajiboye, Okeimute Odah, and most popular of them all, Theophilus Afelokhai are available but time will tell.

For the long run, talents like Dele Alampasu and Maduka Okoye would hopefully grow and become fine options in goal too.

At the cadet/age grade levels, we still got our eyes on the likes Gavin Bazunu and Arthur Okonkwo for the long-long term. wink

In conclusion, I just feel these are some of the feasible approaches Rohr may try out in a 4-2-3-1.
Sebastian Osigwe might sneak into d mix soon

I wonder why rohr still includes ezenwa and akpeyi in his team. What could be wrong?

This is past being conservative? Do they have godfathers in NFF?

These guys don't merit it. And it gonna make Uzoho complacent since there's no real competition.

Even Ighalo. Another bad showing against Libya should convince even his die-hard supporters that he has nothing to offer.

so is Ighalo.

What form is Etebo in that you would start him in that position? Rohr's starting line-up will be better than this your formation
Wanna bet that Musa will start? Also who should replace Etebo? Onazi?? I'm not a fan of playing with two destroyers.
Musa IS on form. He has played well for us in his last few games.

As a 10?? No. Unless we go with a 4-4-2.
We're better off with a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 based on the personnel we have.
If we play 4-4-2, it means Ndidi - Onazi will play as CMs. That is not going to work against Libya.

we obviously don't have a 10, so, we should be playing a formation that favours what we do have.

Rohr is joke of a coach. Akpeyi and Ezenwa really? Onazi and Igalo again? when there are better players to invite? If Rohr cannot justify the fat salary he collects,it is best he resigns cuz I can see that he is a very rigid coach.

solanke is only recognized as an age grade striker and nothing else.
not yet a full fledge international to merit nancho place in global football.

coming against players all because you wanna promote some average players from your tribe makes nonsense.....
Oga! Go and tell those who gave the verdicts they are promoting average players from their tribe. grin

a tribalistic being calling me a tribal bigot.

you really have a problem...
if i was a tribal bigot I would have been cavassin for Ighalo and Vic Moses because I am from same place with them....even same tribe with one of them....I am not even an ibo, I have never live there even more closer to Yorubas than I am with the south easterners. but same cannot be said of you...everyone know here know you as a tribal bigot.
or should we do a vote on that?

you see people should be put in positions because they can deliver and not because of tribal affiliation.

you really need to change your ways...

Oh! You are showing your colour, na?

Well, I am not surprised because when one fella drew his list of SE first eleven and filled it with all his tribes men, nobody raised a dust but if any other from other tribe did the same, this place go done explode. grin grin grin grin grin

Afelokhai Still Likely For Super Eagles’ Invitation

https://footballlive.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/theophilus-afelokhai_6tbalktss61k154dwmmy4ty3o-696x392.jpg
Theophilus Afelokhai

Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper,Theophilus Afelokhai may yet get an invitation to the Super Eagles before the year runs out, as reports reaching footballlive.ng indicate that the inform shot-stopper is still under the searchlight of national team handler, Gernot Rohr.

Although Afelokhai is not included in the squad list to battle Libya in two impending back-to-batch of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, feelers indicate he is being monitored by Rohr.
Afelokhai has outshone Eagles’ second choice, Ikechukwu Ezenwa at Enyimba, following the suspension of their Ghanaian star, Fatau Dauda for discipline.
Since then, Afelokhai has performed well in their CAF Confederation Cup and was picked ahead of Ezenwa for their last group match in the 2018 Federation Cup.

However, despite his present status ahead of Ezenwa, Rohr is yet to think much of Afelokhai, and again left him out of the list to face Libya for upcoming AFCON 2019 qualifiers.
However, reports reaching footballlive.ng reveal that the former Kano Pillars keeper is still under observation by the Eagles’ crew and could get an invitation for future games.

I put Etebo as a CM/b2b role...same role he played at the WC.
I know we don't have a regista to dictate play from deep with Mikel out, but at least Etebo is a food ball carrier. A 4-2-3-1 with him and Ndidi as CMs with Iwobi as an AM is not bad.
