safarigirl:Smh.. You are already turning this decision to another thing... Who told u that anambra has no access to foreign investment? And is it Lagos that's preventing the other seaports in other states from functioning?? You aren't from the south west and neither do u live in Lagos but u are already talking like u have all the knowledge.... Smh |

Danielnino00:"no access to foreign investments like Lagos has" ......is it the same level? How many embassies are in Anambra? How many consulates? How many company headquarters? I am talking about what I know. Lagos has more access to foreign investments than any other part of Nigeria. That is a FACT. Other seaports are not functioning because the FG controls seaports and only Lagos seaports have been enabled. If everything was state-owned, nobody would be shouting Lagos up and down. Why don't we go to resource control and true federalism, then we can know from what stand to compare. As it is, you cannot compare the undue advantage Lagos has with other states. I know it irks certain people to read that, but it is what it is |

safarigirl:Does that changes POS 111abi na POS 112 stance about the definition of democracy? It's still the government of the people by the people for the people. Once, the majority decides who are you to complain? Lagosians will decide what is best for them through a democratic process. Abi no bi dat one you want? |

safarigirl:And what exactly is that undue advantage that's making Lagos attract more investment than other Nigerian states from the beginning?? Don't tell me that it's the federal factor... Lagos was practically abandoned after the federal capital was relocated to Abuja... Tinubu was the one who put in the effort to boost the state economy.. His effort in rebuilding Lagos was what made him more popular in the southwest... Lagos's greatest advantage lies in its human resource and proximity to the ocean and of course, its visionary leaders.. Just take a look at the south south with all it's huge oil wealth...how many south south governors have developed their state we'll enough? I don't like Tinubu myself, but I don't deny that the man has done well.. Ambode on the other hand performed terribly below expectation... He won the last election largely on the back of Tinubu popularity and Fashola legacy... He deserved what he got.. |

Danielnino00:Tinubu is the one selecting Governors for you people, so if Ambode failed, it is still Tinubu that failed. You cannot hail Fashola and say it was Tinubu, then condemn Ambode and say, "Tinubu has nothing to do with it".....since Lagos is property of Asiwaju Tinubu and everybody inside is his property, the failure of any Governor is his failure as well Lagos is benefiting majorly from LOCATION. It is the first place anyone coming into Nigeria lands. It has the only recognized International airport in this country. Please, did OBJ close down MM 1&2 when he was tormenting Tinubu? Did he close the seaports? Did he re-route everything? Before I know it, you people will say it is Tinubu that brought airport and seaport to Lagos as well. Tinubu, the personal lord and saviour of Lagos state. All of you just sound like people in abusive relationship. You will defend your abuser with your last breath |

safarigirl: By the mid-19th century, after the waning of the slave trade, Old Calabar’s economy had become based on the export of palm oil and palm kernels. After the chiefs of Duke Town accepted British protection in 1884, the town, which was called Old Calabar until 1904, served as capital of the Oil Rivers Protectorate (1885–93), the Niger Coast Protectorate (1893–1900), and Southern Nigeria (1900–06) until the British administrative headquarters were moved to Lagos. It remained an important port (shipping ivory, timber, and beeswax, as well as palm produce) until it was eclipsed by Port Harcourt, terminus (1916) of the railroad, 90 miles (145 km) west What stops Calabar and Abuja from replicating what Lagos is doing? You think money from importation taxes enters Lagos state treasury and you think the indigenes of Anambra state contributes 50% of Lagos IGR? Bhahahaha! ![]() That was what some Anambra folks on Nairaland said about having the highest billionaires in Nigeria but after being shown facts they dared not say such again. ![]() |

safarigirl:Do u know that Tinubu was against Fashola second time bid but Fashola still managed to win cus of his popularity? See eh whether it is Ambode or Sanwo-olu, Tinubu might still loss Lagos next year...Last time, the difference was just 100k votes... But that ur allegations sha...nawa o .. So Nnamdi Azikwe airport no dy function? And what's stopping other states from building their own airports, eh? What's stopping other states from.attracting note foreign investment? I don't know what ur issue with Lagos is, but it still.remain the centre of excellence and Nigeria's big apple Biko.let's close the chapter and discuss football.. Kayode's team dy play tonight ![]() |

forgiveness:The 2nd bolded got me ROTFLMAO .That's one of the things we usually see on Nairaland.. Its mostly those who don't and have never lived in Lagos that make such claims .. But we know the truth ..We know those who own certain sectors of the Lagos economy and how much those sectors are worth .We know how much the others are worth... Abeg make we no talk this thing again .. Kayode go play tonight? ![]() |

edi287:Tinubu also gave them Ambode. Maybe he has just been lucky wit& choices. Fashola is one person, Ambode is another person. 1 good governor and 1 bad governor. It's quite balanced. He isn't as good a kingmaker as some people want to believe if we are being sincere. Now, he wants to install someone with a history of drug abuse and crime. |

Danielnino00:you guys are turning this to something else... she was abit right in some of her assertions Lagos make much from taxes and lots more for proceeds from business domiciled virtually close to 60% of these investors are not from the south west... likewise here in Abuja....most of the investors are not from Abuja or even the north... |

edi287:last time during the election...I told my friend my preference for Jimmy but my friend replied me...that whoever tinubu wants will rule Lagos....and so be it. we all know the politics that played out to the elimination of funsho Williams.. he would have give fashola a good run for his money and may have even won if not for the assassination. |

Humility017:leave these people They don't know anything, but they claim they live in Lagos. I keep on saying that most people who live in Lagos are deluded, it comes with lack of exploration. Go and check the population of Lagos, how many people who live in Lagos are Lagosians? How many people doing business in Lagos are Lagosuans? Are these people not paying tax? The owners of properties in Lagos, how many are Lagosians? Do they also not pay tax? If these people decide to move their properties from Lagos tomorrow after FG enables other ports, where Lagos go see mouth? Tomorrow, when the people investing in Lagos contribute discussions to their leadership issues, one bros will say "They should go to their erosion land and talk"....... |

Humility017:Who cares where they are from ? If the conditions in Lagos and Abuja aren't favourable, would they be there?? I don't know.what her problem with Lagos is for her to have taken the discussion that far...Lagos is benefiting from having visionary leaders...it's not using juju... Let other states follow suit and they will prosper.. Anambra is doing it...Ogun state too..Even Kano with little federal might and no access to the ocean is doing fine.. |

safarigirl: It might interest u to know that Lagos is already building its own seaport and airport... @ the bolded federal govt don't have control over everything.. state govt have their own share of the responsibilities. There are federal govt schools and state govt schools..federal roads and state roads..federal hospitals and state hospitals, etc etc .. Those state govt who are waiting on federal govt to help them out are on their own... finitio! |

Danielnino00:how won't they be on their own after the whole country has foolishly grown Lagos? Like I said, the sad thing is that indigenes of these states are busy pouring investment inside Lagos and building it, so that all the ingrates that call themselves Lagosians can come online and insult their states of origin. If I ask you where you are originally from, you're probably not even from Lagos. Anyway, thankfully people who are progressing are progressing, the facts speak for themselves and so do living conditions. FG or no FG, who go progress go progress Moving on....... |
