The impact of the flood in Delta State has caused the victims who could not access their homes, to resort to swimming and using canoes.

More than 5,000 people have been rendered homeless, with while hundreds of hectares of farmland and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed in Isoko South LGA of Delta State.

The affected communities include: Akemu and Asarueha camps, Odabor all in Ikpide-Irri riverine community; Uzere, Ivrogbo-Irri, Araya, Emede, Umeh, among other communities in the local government council.

Say what you know and stop these hasty conclusions...most of these communities like uzere especially araya and emede are kilometers away from a water bodies.......this is a natural disaster and i jope the fulani NERMA responds immediately to amiliorate the sufferngs of the people of ISOKOLAND AND NIGERDELTA AS A WHOLE...we saw responding to flood victims in jigawa State same days ago.
Nigerdelta communities in such predicament must be accorded with same gesture from NERMA.

The bulk of their oil money is shared to northern states not minding the environmental problem in their community.

If Nigeria is restructured it will enable these community to benefit from crude oil exploration in their region.

I doubt a flood of this magnitude could have been prevented. The area might have been below sea level. The river probably broke its banks and no amount of canals would have stopped that.
