My people, abeg, mek una excuse me but somebody needs to say this: ◾Messi has scored more goals (22) and provided more assists (six) against English clubs in the Champions League than against sides from any other nation. Yet, they claimed that he cannot hack it in the EPL. Talk about delusions of grandeur O pari |

Bia, Mister EPL, Spurs were extremely fortunate to avoid 6 goals being conceded last night. Both Suarez & Coutinho were strangely out of sorts yesterday. EPL best league in the world? A look at the UEFA rankings shows that 4 of the top 6 teams in Europe come from La Liga! Whilst perceived as a two horse race with only Real or FCB likely to win it the UEFA rankings suggest that they have to be at a very high standard to do so, which perhaps explaining the gulf between the best in Europe and best in England. Last nights abject displays by EPL teams confirms what most of us know already - the EPL is a joke. Please, let me NOT hear about the "intensity and the physicality" of the EPL games any more O pari komekn: |

Despite being international team-mates with Croatia captain Modric, Rakitic made it clear who he rates as the greatest footballer. "With all respect to other players, who have won it [Ballon d'Or], we know there is a player who is different to the others, and that is Leo Messi," Rakitic said post-game. "Sometimes there are circumstances like Luka Modric doing an outstanding season and maybe people want to change a bit. "But, with all respect, Luka and the others know there is a player who is different to the others, and that is Leo Messi." Source: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/rakitic-barcelona-superstar-messi-different-020911574.html Speaking after the match on Sky Sport's The Debate, pundit Craig Bellamy made a huge claim about the 31-year-old. “He's the best player I've seen in my lifetime,” Bellamy said. Anytime I see G. Donnaruma in goal for AC Milan, I wonder what story would have been concocted for him to despise his true age. Me I have stopped engaging folks on age cheating discourse. They are hell bent on pulling any Nigerian down. They never say anything yet. Let the likes of Chukwueze, Orji, etc get their call ups. We go hear different stories. |

A chieftain of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has exclusively revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com how they tried but failed to lure Club Brugge rave of the moment Arnold Groeneveld Danjuma to the Super Eagles. Danjuma scored one of the goals of the latest round of the UEFA Champions League in Club Brugge’s 1-3 loss to Atletico Madrid and it led to Nigerians questioning why the wing forward was allowed to play for the Netherlands unchallenged. Born in Nigeria to a Dutch mother and a Nigerian father, the forward who recently made his debut for the Dutch U21 said he is open to the idea of playing for Nigeria after his debut but insist on the Netherlands where he was brought up as his top priority. The Dutch wasted no time in handing him a call up but the NFF did contacted him before his debut for the U21 of the Netherlands but according to a chieftain of the NFF, he has his mind made up already. ” I can categorically tell you that we approached him to play for Nigeria even before he played for the U21 of the Netherlands. However like most kids raised abroad he felt more Dutch than Nigerian. We can’t force him”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com on the condition of anonymity. ” It’s not what it seems because even when he said he is open to playing for Nigeria, the Dutch were still his first option and despite his statement he wasn’t keen when we (NFF) approached him via his representatives”, he concluded. |

Icon79:Agreed. La Liga is the best in the world and followed by EPL. If Barcelonia and Real Madrid meet PSG, we know dem go chop am not to talk about other league champions. There is no more Ronaldo in La Liga. Therefore, that era of winning is as good as gone. Barcelona didn't out play Tottenham yesterday despite not having their key players. |

Two young Nigerian stars in the shape of Philip Billing and Ebere Eze have won the Player of the Month awards at their respective clubs. Billing has been one of Nigeria's most outstanding players in the Premier League so far this season and Blue and White Foundation members voted the central midfielder as Huddersfield Town’s September 2018 Player of the Month. A Denmark U21 international, he was picked ahead of Chris Löwe when the votes were counted. Billing is the fourth top tackler in the Premier League, an honour he shares with Leicester City duo Wilfred Ndidi and Ricardo Pereira, with 26 successful tackles made. The 22-year-old is the Terriers second top passer after making 287 successful passes. A division below, former Super Eagles invitee Ebere Eze,20, has been voted Queens Park Rangers September Player of the Month following a string of impressive displays. The attacking midfielder scored 2 goals in 5 Championship appearances last month which helped QPR record wins against Bolton Wanderers and Millwall. |
