Nnamdi Azikiwe was not the head of government. You should have written Tafawa Balewa.

He was the head of state, while Balewa was head of gov't.

The thread is about head of states. Though i feel the likes of Ironsi and Shonekan shouldn't be included due to the short time they were in office. They just include their names to make the list from the south east and south west look large so it looks like all regions and the three major ethnic groups have produced more than one head of state. smiley

I know you made the post in jest, but just to add that Nigeria is not the US or France where a dark-horse can emerge and win based on the votes of the electorate. Valid electorate votes count for nest to nothing in Nigeria when the president is chosen!

After producing head of state, where is Nigeria today?
Re: These Are The 9 States That Have Produced Heads Of State by FriendNG:
Anambra did not produce any president rather Bauchi state in the person of the prime minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

A ceremonial president cannot be listed as head of state.

nawa oo, people don't understand parliamentary system of government, the prime minister answers to the president. the president is head of state and head of national Assembly.

He was a ceremonial president.

He was not a president in the sense of today's presidents.

Stop exposing your ignorance

No. Titles should not confuse us.

A Prime Minister is the head of government and he's like today's head of state or a president under a presidential system of government.

Balewa was the the effective and defacto head of state in today's parlance, not Azikiwe who was a mere ceremonial head.
