The only time you don't overtake here is a hearse convoy out of your respect for the dead.

Now the Nigerian soldier loves to break the law, beat up police men, burn police stations, harass civilians, enforce civil disputes between neighbours, extra-judicial killings and wonder why no one feels too much pity when their officers f*uck each other's wives when they go to war, not taken as a priority when their pension is delayed, say nothing about internal corruption and don't mourn for long when they get killed by boko haram.

Respect is earned. I understand part of their training involves them brutralizing each other, which makes them mean, but if you can't respect your citizen then you won't get their respect. And trust me it's sweet to be a soldier in the United States. You get free stuff, sponsored university education, accelerated citizenship (naija boys, listen oh ye in code!), cheaper loans and everyday goods and services are discounted. Even in death. While planes are delayed, passengers all rise until your coffin is secured in place and your widow is seated. And everywhere you go in uniform you hear 'Thank you for your service.' It's a beautiful feeling.

It's bad enough not to even pull over when they drive past you, but overtaking any car with a military personnel is disrespectful, rebellious and tantamount to mutiny.

That is not the army, that is mobile policemen who escort CBN bullion vans with armored personnel carriers and they are high security convoys considering they move both local and foreign currencies.
It is standard procedure you don't overtake them once they are on the move, the stupid driver was lucky he was not shot at for trying that.

No, bro. Once you are on the highway (which TMB) is, there is no speed limit. You can overtake anyone as long as your speed is more than theirs.

In the case of a convoy, make sure you overtake all the vehicles, don't try to squeeze yourself in between the convoy cars

I don't make way for them. So long I can overtake them and speed past them I will always do it. They themselves will know I'm in a hurry. But if i overtake them only to drive slowly in front of them it just dont make sense.

They shot at a governor's convoy one time.. Only the presidential convoy is allowed to over take them. Not even a governor or any other security outfit can over take them. The man is lucky. They could have easily tagged him a security threat and waste him.
