Has The Church Lost It Power? by paxonel(op): 5:21am On Oct 07, 2018
When you go to churches these days you hardly see pastors performing miracles to set themselves approved that they were truly called by God.
We have read how some folks were purnished for mere criticizing moses and Elijah in the bible but that is not the case today with pastors Adeboye, Adefarasin, Funke, Ashimolowo, oyedepo, and their families whom daddy freeze has tacked with criticism day and night and nothing is happening to him.

All you see in churches these days is fire prayer (or die by fire prayer)or some faking miracles displayed by some actors in the pulpit.
Was that supposed to be the power?

"15"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
21Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.

22On judgment day many will say to me,
‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name
and performed many miracles in your name.

23But I will reply, ‘I never knew you.
Get away from me, you who break God’s laws
.’"

Open criticism is better than unexpressed love

have you heard of Apostle Joshua Selman Nimmak? He is a very young minister but the Holy Spirit is really using him. Raw power of God demonstrated in his ministry every fellowship day

God gives everyone different gifts. Not all have the gift of miracles and healing. It doesn't mean God does not do wonders where miracles are not recorded in a ministry.

The greatest manifestation of the Presence of God is not seen where there is an abundance of miracles and healings; it is seen where people worship God in spirit and in truth, where people are taught to seek God to know Him personally, where the leader is open to God's leading....not where the leader makes his plannof the activities to be done in the church that day and carries them out without seeking God's opinion or wisdom.

The headline is incorrect, it should be has the clergies lost their power. Church is a body that consist the members and the clergies

Clergies are those who interplay the role of God in the church ( serving as the mouth piece of god).

They don't really have any power before except what the church (members) gave them. The members are powerful.

This question is related to a discussion I had some time ago.

My answer to it is not a very commonly known one but it is to the best of my knowledge the Truth of the matter.

Apart from the fact that many of those who style themselves servants of God are anything but, there is also the fact that not all the spiritual gifts that the Church started with in the days of the Apostles are still functional today.

First thing to note is that every spiritual gift was given in order to edify or build up the Church. Eph 4:8, 11-12. That is, no gift was given for selfish purposes. 1 Cor 14:4-5. The whole point of each gift was to help other believers grow up in the Truth or to help unbelievers come to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 12:7.

If that is the case, that is, if each spiritual gift was given for the edification of the Church, then once its job is done, it has no further place in the scheme of things except for show, a.k.a, selfish reasons.

This is really what 1 Cor 13:8-10 is all about. Some gifts were necessary at the beginning because the Death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus changed everything. So, the Church needed more than the existing Bible of that time, the Tanakh (what we call the Old Testament today) provided. God gave Apostles, Prophets and special gifts of miracles at that time in order to provide new revelation that would guide the Church until the end of the Age.

The Apostles and other special messengers (like James and Jude) finished writing up the New Testament and it was collected and made available to the churches of that time well before the last Apostle died. Once this New Testament was written and the Bible completed, the gifts that were necessary to "hold the fort" until it was done were retired by the Holy Spirit so that every person who wanted to know what God has to say must look into the Bible to find out. Heb 1:1-2.

This is why there are no miracles of the sort you speak of today.

The time will yet come when some of these gifts will be given again. That will be during the Tribulation and they will continue and expand into the Millennium. Joel 2:28-32. But that time is not now.

Attached is a Word doc of the conversation I mentioned earlier.
