Good morning and Happy Sunday, fellow Nairanlanders, Trust we are all great! I ll like to know if it's mandatory to pray while kneeling only! Cos I do midnight prayers alot and as a person I might not be able to kneel for an hour or more! Do you think sitting to pray is a disrespect to God and hinders prayers? Or what's your take pls?

You can choose whatever position that is suitable for you.

According to the Bible, kneeling was a common position (1Kings 8:54, 2Chronicles 6:13, Daniel 6:10, Psalm 95:6, Acts 9:40, 20:36) as it is among many Christians today. This was, however, not the only way petitions were offered to the Eternal. For example, Jesus spoke a lengthy prayer, loud enough for all his disciples to hear, when he walked to the garden of Gethsemane to await his arrest (John 17).


Early Christians did not have a single best prayer position they used. They, instead, favored several positions such as standing, sometimes with their heads bowed, with their arms extended at their sides (like the shape of a cross) or with them raised toward heaven. They were also inclined to kneel or prostrate themselves when making their petitions to God

This positions only shows humility and conservative attitude towards God when we pray.

Whether you kneel or jump while praying is inconsequential as it wouldn't stop prayers from being useless, ineffective and a total waste of time

there are actual scientific studies on prayer (eg Templeton Foundation research). Not one has ever shown any connection between prayer and real world outcomes. The only connection is that people who pray BELIEVE that their prayers are answered mostly because humans are designed to ignore all the facts that don't fit their beliefs. But the FACT is, we have studied prayer and it appears to have zero effect on anything

You would have the same success praying to a milk
jug as you do praying to yahweh -- the milk jug sometimes answers your prayer the way you want to, sometimes not and sometimes the answer is delayed. See the problem here? If things turn out the way you want them to, you say it was because you prayed. If not, it's because yahweh knows what's best and you didn't pray for the right thing. Or, if it happens 10 years later you say yahweh answered your prayer, it was just delayed. This is nonsense. You would have the exact same effect doing nothing.

Prayers are proven to be useless whether done while kneeling, running, skipping or sheeting. Prayer is a waste of time and time spent to pray should've been better spent looking for practical solutions


Nigerians keep praying for long life and now has life expectancy of 54.5 years (the 7th lowest in the world) while a prayerless Japan comprising of atheist majority has a life expectancy of 83.7 years (highest in the world)

Usually I don't kneel down to pray, I lie on my bed at night and pray, in the afternoon, I kneel down and pray, you can pray anywhere and you mustn't kneel down to pray, so far you are talking to God in truth and in spirit.

As long as your intentions are pure and your heart is clean, any position will do

You can pray on whatever position you desire. However, if you have an urge to kneel during certain prayers, do not resist such urge. Certain encounters would leave you no choice than to kneel. I rarely kneel during long prayers because of the pain i rather pace up and about, i find that more effective.

1, stand up and look straight to heaven
2, Bow your heads when you have sinned and ask for forgiveness

The position doesn't matter as long as it doesn't distract you...... What matters is that you are totally connection to your maker in spirit and in truth during supplications.

It's not mandatory to kneel and pray before your prayers can be acceptable. Whether you stand, sit, kneel or walk, your prayer will still be acceptable to God provided it's with sincere heart. So there's no disrespect if you don't kneel to pray.

Interesting topic. I don't used to kneeling while praying.

The heart and a good standing with God supersedes any physical position.

According to the Holly Bible the only Scripturally-supported prayer position is doing as Jesus did in Matt 26:39. Other Biblical prophets also did the same in Gen 17:3, Neh 8:6, etc. What is that bro.? Falling down on your face to pray as the Muslims do. "Moving a little further, Jesus fell down on his face and prayed" - Matthew 26 v39. This is the only way to pray and if you say it is not, just supply me your own Bibblical proofs NOT INSULTS! JESUS PRAYED AS MUSLIMS DO! Just follow Jesus if you truly have faith and obey his commandments!

In my own view I guess kneel down to ur maker should be compulsory bcus when in court will must bow f or the judge in sign of humidity nd humbleness so bow for the maker should be compulsory
