Is it not the same Peter Obi his people call Adaobi? Bros when did you start following politics? Was it not when he went to platform some 2 years ago to sweet talk them that some people from the SW began to reckon with him? Bros you don't know as much as Peter Obi as I know. You might like him. Yes. That is a right of choice you have got but to compare him with that Erudite Professor is an insult to intellectualism agabaI23: 1 Like |

Mrmos:Nigeria is presently too tribalistic for Yorubas to support a combination of Atiku/Peter Obi. If I were Atiku I'd pick a Youba man to be my vice president. Eastern Nigerians as It is hate buhari with passion so they'd vote for anyone other than buhari regardless of who the vice president is. Yorubas will pick a combo of Buhari/Osinbajo over Atiku/peter Obi any day and anytime. 4 Likes 1 Share |

fratermathy:The Isokos were not referred to as Sobo in d past but Eggaboh. Til this day, my Aboh brethren call them Eggaboh and Urhobos they call Sobos. I have hardly ever heard my mum and her people call themselves Urhobo, but Uvwie and their greetimg is same as the Okpes i.e 'degwo'as opposed to 'migwo'. And another fact is that the Uvwies seem to bear a lot of Itsekiri names like Majemite, Tsekiri, Emeye e.t.c. |

clefstone: Isokos were called Sobo, together with the Urhobos, at least towards the end of the colonial period. "Igabo" (not "Eggaboh"-) was used for a much earlier time in their history and it never stuck. You only find Igabo in very few historical documents. Sobo is used in the majority of documents and tags for the Isokos and Urhobos. Uvwies do not quarrel with Urhobo identity and that is a fact you cannot contest. We even have Uvwie Urhobos on this forum so I'd be careful on this point if I were you. Say Okpe and I'll agree with you (not even all parts of Okpe - mainly those from the Mereje dukedom). Uvwie people have been in contact with Ijaws and Itsekiris from time immemorial and, like other Urhobos, bear Ijaw and Itsekiri names as do some Itsekiris and Ijaws bear Urhobo names. I've seen Ukwuani people answering Urhobo/Isoko names and vice versa. The current PA on Media to Okowa, Ossai Ovie, is from Ndokwa and he bears Ovie as a first name. He's even on this forum. Even in Avwraka, far away from Itsekiri land, people answer Majemite and other Itsekiri sounding names, just as Itsekiris answer Ovie, Akpode, etc, so what is your point here? |

fratermathy:I'm telling u that my people call Isokos Egabboh to this day you are arguing with me. The Whitemen that came to the Niger Delta in the 1800s referred to the Isokos exclusively as Eggaboh. The Uvwies of my mom's generation bear names that are totally different from Urhobo names. Nothing like Ese, Efe, Oghene etc in their names. All my mom's relatives from Father to uncles, to Aunts to siblings and cousins have non-Urhobo sounding names. And my mom has told me that her father told them that they r actually from Okpe. personally, i believe the Uvwies migrated from Okpe Kingdom. DYK that the current Ovie of Uvwie(omogu) is only like the 2nd or 3rd Ovie? |

clefstone: Uvwie people migrated from Erhowa in Isoko via Effurun-Otor in Urhobo. Okpe migrated from Ile Ife via Benin and berthed at Olomu, in Urhobo, from where they migrated to their current abode. You should do some healthy reading because you appear quite ignorant. That Aboh may be calling Isokos "Eggaboh" has no bearing with Isoko's appellation as Sobo by the colonial masters and as "Igabo" by some missionaries. All historical proofs show that Isokos were tagged as Sobos, together with Urhobos. Even Isokos themselves know this. In fact, Isoko used to be known as Eastern Urhobo from around 1940 to 1963. Okpe and Uvwie were part of Western Urhobo around the same time. Cc: Onosprince Many Uvwie people answer the names you mentioned. You seem to know so little of Uvwie people. You probably haven't been to Uvwieland before and thus, your misinformation. Don't always rely on anecdotes when you can easily verify facts online these days. I can't even count the number of "Oghene" prefixed names in Okpe and Uvwie. All of the South Western Edoid groups share a cluster of names, with little to no variations. @Efewestern can do justice to this. If you fail to exhibit some measure of objective research on your part, I'll desist from replying you any further. I enjoy interactions with those who are armed with facts, not sentiments. If you want to learn, then do so. If you want me to learn, then argue with verifiable facts. 1 Like |

clefstone: That your people call Isoko Egabboh has no bearing with the reality on ground, the isokos for long were referred to as "Sobo" alongside their Urhobo cousin, even our colonial master tried unifying both ethnic group using the word "Sobo". Secondly Uvwie names are 80% urhobo, in fact uvwie answer general Urhobo names just like every other Urhobo clans, if you feel your mother's family names are not related to Urhobo then I expect you to tell us the names let's see if they are Urhobo or not, even isoko bear general Urhobo names,is it now Uvwie? Thirdly Uvwie has never in any way denied their Urhoboness, infact the first time they interviewed the ovie of Uvwie, the first thing he said was " My people are Urhobo". I can see you know little or nothing about the Uvwie people. 1 Like |

fratermathy: The man is just another ignorant fellow that believes he knows it all, he even said Uvwie answers alot of itsekiri names, like who doesn't know that Urhobo bears some pure itsekiri names while some itsekiri's bears some pure Urhobo names?. Instead of him to counter most of the valid points you raised earlier, he decided to argue blindly. 1 Like |
