The Peter Obi They Hate, The Pride We Have by Nobody: 11:02am On Oct 08, 2018
This morning, my friend and brother, Adeyanju Deji has now alleged that one of Nigeria’s sanest mind, a fine and refined character, the quintessential, humane and humble Mr. Peter Obi has many enemies, including his home state Governor and the political party holding sway in Anambra State.

Deji went further to claim that if Peter Obi were to be handed the Vice-Presidential ticket of the PDP, that the Anambra Governor would go as far as emptying the treasury of the state in a bid to fight and stop Okwute and the PDP.

Ofcourse, there might be disagreements between the former Governor, his former political party and the incumbent Governor plus many some of the power-brokers.

However, as it stands now, Peter is a giant in his own rights. Peter is not a push-about. Peter has a mettle which no other Anambra politician even before him and till now has. Peter has a huge followership, acceptability, credibility and love that endears and charms.

In Igboland, and infact beyond, no other politician can be widely accepted in Nigeria and treated with much respect even after leaving office almost five years ago and still commands the level of respect and followership that Obi carries and does till now.

It’s only pitiful to read some young people who write with reckless abandon with a bid to ridicule, humiliate and shame the person of Peter Obi. This is a man who has shown class, brought Anambra out of the woods and unto the world map, proved that he isn’t power-drunk and shown decency, integrity, carriage, charisma and charism in his one and every undertaking.

The quest of every serious-minded Igboman may not be desperately to attain to position of power and authority. The quest is to bring about good governance, position things for businesses to thrive, provide security and do the basics which every purposeful, sensible and progressive Government ought to do. Ndi-Igbo are eager, willing and ready to create jobs themselves, construct their roads and provide other basic amenities. We aren’t lazy.

Lastly, the struggle isn’t about Obi or the hate from some unrepentant ridiculous elements at home. The struggle is not about who spends what and to what extent to stop his been chosen as Atiku’s Vice President. The struggle isn’t about what and where the Igbos stand in the Government of the next administration. The struggle isn’t about frivolities, pitiful noise, the confusions that follows, intrigues or campaign of hate or calumny and character defamation.

The aim is to stop Muhammad Buhari and his APC at all cost from returning to power.

We can’t allow for another four years of tyrannical irredeemable outpouring of recklessness, rascality, misleadership, insecurity, joblessness, religious fanaticism and bigotry, corruption redefined, hunger, malnutrition, devastation, deaths and more deaths by an assembled killer squad - be they Boko Haram or Fulani Herdsmen, and an unserious Government; never again!

If they hate Obi, that’s not our problem. If they want to stop Igbo from attaining power, that’s not a problem. But if and when they dare to allow Buhari to continue as President, that’s the exact point where and when they must have pushed and tried their luck so far, and we would jointly reach out directly to the God of the heavens, and to the gods of seven seas and seven oceans, asking of it to package loads of gifts, it must come real hot and fully loaded - thunder and brimstone to come amd destroy they who have chosen destruction for all Nigerians.

Obi is a giant; where he’s walked, they may never attain, ever. You don’t become great or accepted by cheap blackmail, pitiful hate, ignorance, arrogance, foolishness or outpouring of stupidity. It’s all about humbling yourself, learning from the master himself and focus, for one must stoop to conquer. Love is won, not forced upon.

Now, when next anyone tells you that Anambrarians, ndi-Igbo, Southerners hate Obi and can gamble Obi in matters of utmost importance for anything, go back and tell them that Obi has a huge acceptance that intimidates and even humbles his arch rivals. However, the commoners, the locals and the populace love him.

In Nigeria, revered, reputable and respected institutions treat Mr. Peter Obi with utmost respect richly deserving of only a character like him. They know he’s a perfect gentleman, who yes, may not be a saint, but who’s saintly. The church respects him. The elderly take him seriously. The youth honor him. All it is which many Nigerian politicians ought to learn is to - “be like Peter!”

At this moment and time, the greatest worry of the PDP and her Presidential flag-bearer - Atiku Abubakar is not necessarily about the stand of Peter Obi the great, our own Obimetrics in the tide of things, but they may be more worried on how to pacify the Southwest, win their sentiments and followership which is extremely important. This therefore is understood. If sacrificing Obi’s Vice-Presidential take inorder to win big is the thing, it’s okay and acceptable by we the Obi-lovers.

The aim is to eject or remove, retire and return Buhari out and away from the Aso Villa back to Daura and to his cattle rearing. That’s exactly where he rightly belong, not anywhere near position of power or authority.

Anyone and anything that can stop Buhari and APC is all that we care for. Nigeria has bled enough, let’s fix it!
