Ladies and gentlemen, Biko, concerning this VP position, I want to ask :
Politically, Is Ngozi Okonjo Iweala SE or SS?

Very important.

By Igbo tradition, she is now SE. Her Children and husband are both Abians.

Ofcourse, she remains an Ogwashiukwu daughter, but her share is now in Abia state.
As a minister of finance, she represented Abia State and not Delta.

•To decide on zoning of position between South-west and South-east tomorrow
•Age, knowledge of economy key criterion for nomination

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has begun earnest search for his running mate as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for the submission of names of parties’ candidate expires on Monday.

By the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, no candidature is complete without a running mate.
THISDAY sources close to the Atiku camp said at least three technocrats and two politicians have been penciled down for the position.

The technocrats are, former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo; former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina; and former Managing Director of Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), Mr. Chike Obi.

The politicians being considered for the number two position are, former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

According to a source, the candidate and the PDP hierarchy are still undecided on the zone the position should be allotted. But he said the scope had been narrowed down to the South-west and the South-east.

“We would have to weigh the electoral value of both zones and decide where we would allot it,” the source said, explaining that there was the need to maintain a balance between the existing political configuration, which requires the party to challenge the dominance of the APC in the high voting South-west by picking a running mate that would challenge the electoral advantage of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; and the need to retain the loyalty of the South-east that had remained a PDP stronghold.

Both zones were believed to have helped Atiku to neutralise the Northern zones’ delegates’ votes that went to Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal during the presidential primary on Saturday.

A source told THISDAY that the matter would be trashed out tomorrow at a meeting of the presidential candidate with the party hierarchy.
Apart from zoning, Atiku is also said to be considering age and knowledge of the economy and economics as two major criterions for the selection of the running mate.

According to a source, the presidential candidate thinks his running mate has to be a much younger person as a strategy to appeal to the army of youths, which is already up in arms against the old brigade.

Atiku is, however, said to be insisting that such a young man must also have deep knowledge of the economy as his focus is on the revival of the economy to create jobs for the teaming unemployed population.

“His challenge, therefore, is how to strike the balance between getting a youthful running mate and an economy savvy candidate. Both must be rolled into one,” a source said, explain that this might have informed the short list that was revealed to THISDAY.

Am I the only one that’s not terribly excited about the Atiku election here.

The way I see it, the elections are going to be heavily rigged by Apeeshit, since they cannot contest based on their “accomplishments”.

While Atiku is better than Mumuharri (hardly a high bar - some domestic animals are better than the dullard), his promise of restructuring sounds too gimmicky. Following his discussions with the “mere commissioner”, I get the feeling that he doesn’t have a clear understanding of what exactly he’s restructuring.

Moreover, it’s also not very clear that he will even be successful given the lopsided nature of the legislative arm.

Additionally, I don’t think having PDP at the centre has been beneficial to us. Sure, our “big men” get a lot of lofty appointments but it also encouraged our local PDP governors to reign in impunity knowing that they can rely on “federal might” to rig the next elections. This is clearly the reason why Roaches will want to anoint his son-in-law to take over from him.

If we are supporting Mr Atiku because of “restructuring”, we should also have a Plan B where we will try to effect a piecemeal transition towards more decentralization by lobbying (read bribing) targeted legislators.

IGBOS INVESTMENTS IN NASARAWA
Igbos own a reasonable amount of investments in Nasarawa (North as a whole), 15+ years ago 99.99999999% of shops in the market were controlled by Igbos.
Motorcycle, tractor and motor spare parts are 100% controlled by Igbos here, although some Igbos now train some local indigens. The indigens here are hardworking and ready to compete with Igbos but they can't.

Provision shops are 90+% controlled by Igbos although there are other tribes in it but Igbos are found in every nook and crannies (every and any area of Nasarawa) doing business.

Hotel business: Igbos are found here too, I don't know the actual number of hotels owned by Igbos but I'd give them 80%.

Agricultural sector: Yes we farm here in the north, like I said before most people here farm egusi etc. Afos (tribe) do agriculture business, Igbos do it too. Many Igbos do buying and selling like other tribes.

Many Igbos are landlords here and also land and shop owners

Igbos are involved in every and any business here, Igbos are very everywhere. We have meetings here e.g Igbo general meeting, states meeting and even the LGA meeting and we all have a King

REACHING OUT
Taxify now operates in more African cities than Uber
By Yomi KazeemOctober 8, 2018

Ride-hailing company Taxify is taking the fight for market share in Africa with Uber to places where Uber isn’t.

The Estonian company which has grown to become Uber’s biggest rival in Africa is pursuing an expansion strategy that’s focused on not only operating in major cities across Africa, like Uber does. Taxify has also been expanding to smaller cities and now operates in more African cities than Uber.

In Nigeria, in addition to Lagos and Abuja, the only two cities where Uber currently operates, Taxify has launched operations in Ibadan, Nigeria’s largest city by land size, and Owerri, a bustling commercial center in the southeast. While neither city matches Lagos or Abuja as urban centers, they have sizable business districts and populations of over 1 million people each. In Tanzania, while Uber has stuck only to Dar es Salaam, Taxify operates there as well as in Dodoma, the nation’s capital and in Mwanza, a tourism hotbed on the shore on Lake Victoria.

In South Africa, Taxify continues to compete with Uber in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth but has also expanded to Polokwane. It is set to also launch in East London later this month—a move that will see it surpass Uber for the number of African cities operated in. It will also mean Taxify operates more cities in South Africa than anywhere else.

Much of Taxify’s expansion has been bankrolled by its recent $175 million capital raise—a funding round which valued the company at more than $1 billion. Taxify’s backers include Daimler, the German car giant and Didi Chuxing, the dominant ride-hailing business in China which is also known for backing Uber’s rivals elsewhere. As it continues to grow and attempt to win over riders, Taxify’s lower commissions on fares are also a tactic to win over drivers.

For its part, Uber, which has now operated in African cities for five years, is also eyeing more expansion with Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Mauritius among potential targets. And showing a willingness to adapt to local markets, it has also introduced lower cost ride-hailing options with rickshaws in Kenya and motorcycles in Uganda.

Politics is not to be left for select few people, lest the society become doomed.
If the SE politicians had been on top of their game, by puting the region interests first above their selfish interests, we wouldn't be where we are today.
Truth is that the current Igbo political elite has failed Ndiigbo.
We the commoners can nolonger keep quiet and allow them cause more harm to us. We were all affected by their incompetence, more than themselves.

The least we can do is speak out, using whatever platform available to us. Political matters is not meant for a select few, especially when this select few have failed the masses. Your attempt to gag me is noted, but is ultimately furtile.

We all saw how Wike the Ikwerre man conspired with the help of some of our selfish politicians who were eyeing the Senate presidency slot, to kill SE chances of having a chance at VP, by presenting and sponsoring a Tambuwal/Fayose ticket.

This is the way SE politicians have been for sometime now. And this is why the region is currently in political wilderness in Nigerian politics.

Funny you accuse me of being emotional, when you are the one whose emotional attachment to Igbophobic Igboid groups down South, had blinded from seeing the damage those lots have and are capable of causing to Ndiigbo.
I'm the one who isn't held down by emotions here. I'm being blunt and cold,, whereas you are the one who is clinging emotionally to realities of yesterdays, while refusing to accept and work with current reality.
