I'm trying to understand the "I don't have money for permit" song he's singing. U don't have money for permit yet you have money for mass producing about 254 packs of Fruit wine. Imagine if he were not caught, that's how people will be drinking unregulated fruit drinks and we wonder why many Nigerians are having kidney and liver diseases. Mind you, Each pack contain 6 bottles, bringing the total sum to over 1500 bottles

This is how China started.

The whole world, including Europe use to mock China for producing fake things but they didn't know they were learning and trying to perfect their skills.

Today, the whole of Europe, America, Canada, Australia, Middleast and Africa rely on China for their daily needs.

All Igbo guys need is the enabling environment and favorable government policies to make business startup capital and investment fund available to them at feasible rate and just a matter of time, they will make Africa and black race proud.

Go to Niger Delta, they have built crude and local functional refineries producing quality petrol and gasoline products that our so called government cannot produce in several decades.

In as much as this is a crime, I want us to look beyond tribe and nepotism and see the creativity in Igbo people and find a way to harness it for our national good.

I know this is impossible, so let me join others and scream: JAIL HIM!! angry
So you are justifying evil.
This is meant to be consumed by people, who will probably end up sick.
We need deliverance.

When NAFDAC Registration money for products is too high huh huh huh huh huh

What do you want him to do? If actually he produced the fruit wine by himself, he should be given a warning, fined accordingly and told to go and raise money to register his fruit juice. By no means must this creative man be jailed. NAFDAC should not continue to be a money making agency. NAFDAC Fees should be reduced to affordable sums of money and the process of registering products and getting the 'HOLY GRAIL' NAFDAC Number should be made easier. There are so many people with ideas out there who can't produce drinks and other household products because of the high charges demanded by NAFDAC and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria. Cheers.

The man with the fruit wine is just making an honest living

It's not like the wine sector in Nigeria is regulated.

We have ppl marking home made liquid detergent, bleach, yogurt, snacks and the rest.
Who has ever arrested them?
If the liquor is not harmful to health, they should please, free that man.
They shouldn't frustrate him the more. Living in Nigeria is highly frustrating enough
we are talking of food here. U can't brand food products without register with NAFDAC. This is illegality even in developed world. He should have waited and source for investors before venture into such business.

I have to be honest. My SE brothers are probably the most industrious in Africa.
Of course, they are industrious...i quiet agree...but dealing with fake and substandard products is one my problem with most of these people...i will rather buy a shoe of 40k...then to buy one fake arse shoe from aba...no offense....they invest in quantity, not quality...

The mofo is looking for sympathy...you failed to register your product..because you don't have money...but you have money to produce...is that not the height of stupidity?

And some fools will patronize or sympathize with this greedy slowpoke....

Its seems to me that the Nigerians health is not safe in the hands of Nafdac again. With the current level of adulterated products in circulation... Its really wearisome
I submit to the use of SHPING APP.
With the app I scan each product bar code i intended buying to see if its original before I purchase. And it has been wonderful so far.Try it.

NAFDAC and the Standards Organization of Nigeria ( SON ) are not helping matters at all. To register a product and get a NAFDAC Number, you will be made to shell out a lot of Money. To even get your Factory approved, you should be looking at almost a Million Naira. There are so many unnecessary hoops and obstacles created by NAFDAC that you have to jump over. The financial implication of registering a Food product with NAFDAC is intimidating. NAFDAC charges should be reduced smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley. Then if it is a basic food product like Chin Chin, Cupcakes, Biscuits, Popcorn etc, the producer should be allowed to sell these snacks without NAFDAC Numbers at the beginning, once the product has been approved for consumption by NAFDAC, and the Production Site of the Snack is hygienic and meets the standards required. Then after a year, the producer of the Snacks would have raised enough Money to get the NAFDAC Number. Let our Agencies make things easy for people cool cool cool cool cool cool

The man made a serious comment about limited funds leading him into illegal production. Why can't all these politicians help him out and actually study his products, standardize them where necessary and partner woth him in local production?

Nothing criminal here,he only needs to be assisted to get the necessary permit as he did not fake any existing product nor

infringed on any copy right .
Nothing criminal? Producing beverage products without registration...i just wonder how some Nigerians reason...

Do you know the chemical composition he is using? Even the hygiene is also there...

And u said he need assistance...if he is not a greedy mofo...why not register the product first.and then seek for assistance....

Some people just like making excuses for greedy people....is he the only person filling heat in the country...if knows he doesn't haven't the finance.. He should go and hawk gala or fan yoghurt. Then raise enough capital to fund his dream business

Police should free the guy. He said he has not sold any of it. And he is yet to get registered. Is it a crime to produce something about to be registered and sold.

That is what I am saying. The Man should not be jailed but fined and told to do the right thing. Our Banks should be funding guys like this by giving them loans from 500,000 Naira to 2 Million Naira. If you check the guy's fruit wine at a laboratory, you will discover that the Man used fruit concentrates to make the wine in a crude manner. Anyone can import fruit concentrates from Asian countries into Nigeria. The guy's fruit wine might not be that harmful as people think. High Charges by NAFDAC has led the guy to cut corners in a bid to make money. Yes, he has not behaved well and has committed an illegality, but he should not be jailed smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley.

I won't blame the guy for this. His case is understandable. He made a mistake of not getting his business registered but one thing I can't find in the write up is if he's using another company's name and brand to market his own product, if so then that's an offense

IT CANNOT KILL! I also drink it, man arrested for producing adulterated fruit wine tells police

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly producing adulterated fruit wine.

Ifeanyi Udeh was arrested by policemen on a stop-and-search duty in Agbowa, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said on Monday that Udeh confessed to producing the adulterated drinks when interrogated, adding that such product led to health challenges.

The CP said,

“The policemen went to the suspect’s apartment and recovered 50 cartons of adulterated alcoholic drinks and other category of drinks. Apart from the fact that it is an offence, this is worrisome because of the health implications of the drinks to members of the public.”

Imohimi urged Lagosians to partner the police to ensure that such activities were halted to save lives.

The suspect, Udeh, said he was on his way to search for customers for his wine when he was accosted by operatives of the command.

The father of two, who said he had produced 254 packs of the alleged adulterated wine, added that he had yet to register the product with relevant authorities.

The Enugu state indigene said,

“The fruit wine is my product; the name is Capic, but it is not registered. I will soon get a permit but I don’t have money. I have not supplied anybody yet; this wine cannot kill anybody because I also drink it. This is my first production and I have produced 254 packs so far.

“I don’t have workers; I produced the drink inside the house that I rented in Ikorodu. I plan to sell one pack for N1,000 and one pack contains six bottles of fruit wine.

“I don’t know what to do again; it is just that in Nigeria, if you have brain and you don’t have money, there is nothing you can do. Even if someone advised you to register and you don’t have money, what are you going to do? If I have money, things would not be like this.”

Meanwhile, one Sulaiman Seun, 31, and Olamilekan Olaoluwa, 24, were also arrested for robbing vehicle spare parts dealers on Fashola Estate, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

The CP said,

“One locally-made pistol, cut-to-size gun, four wheels of a Land Rover, two tyres and two batteries were recovered from the scene of the robbery. Investigation is still ongoing with a view to arresting the other members of the gang for prosecution.”
