Feasible but tirrrrrrrring, stressful. What about taking care of her child? Even those studying full-time and working part-time don't really find it so easy. The best option is what @TheCongo2 gave her.
The calculation also requires some additions and that was the point I was trying to make earlier. As tight as it already appears, it is not complete as children come with their own set of expenses - minder (if applicable), after school activities and even the ones they will ask you to pay in school, clothes and shoes to buy as they grow etc. All these should also be factored into the calculation to help her make an informed decision.

Very true.
I was thinking under the same line as well.
With children there are always unpredictable expenses.
Not to forget birthdays. Each time a child is invited to a classmate's birthday, the child has to carry a gift for that classmate.

In Alberta, what you would get would be student loans plus grants (Federal and Provincial). If you have kids you would receive generous grants which might be half of whatever total amount you receive per year, e.g You could get up to $6000 as grant out of a total of $12000 per year. But if you do not have kids, your grant would be low. Maybe $1500 out of $12000.
After grad, you dont payback the grants but you have to pay back the loan with interest.

if for any reason, you withdraw out of the program, the grants would be converted to loan and you pay all back.

This is what I have heard from people that took out financial aid.

Checkout Alberta Student Aid. Goodluck.

My sister, na true o. I have checked off two certifications out of my planned three since I got here, the final outstanding one being the toughest. Preparing for it made me realize I may not be cut out for full time study at this time and it is not as if I need the college certificate. Just wanted to broaden my knowledge and use it to pass time till I am ready to look for work. However, I found out from networking that I was already marketable the way I was, so I thought why delay the inevitable (which is to work eventually) and also suffer in the process?

My plan is to conduct one session every month depending on the number of interested people and meeting room availability in any of the libraries in Calgary.

It looks like we now have three people (@linuslynx, @dfanz and @chuka01) that are interested in the Six Sigma crash course already. Since linuslynx will not be landing until December, we can schedule the first session for after @linuslynx lands in Calgary in December. However, if there is more interest before December, I will schedule the first session before December (in October or November) as long as we can get a meeting room at the library. So, the actual session dates each month will be determined by meeting room availability each month.

Watch out for more detail on here!

The first session of this training has been scheduled for Saturday November 3. There are already about 15 people attending this session.

@dfanz and @chuka01: Since both of you showed interest; I am giving you the remaining two slots for this November session. So, contact me to get the detail of time and location of the session.

@linuslynx: You mentioned that you are not landing until December; I will keep you posted of December and January sessions so that you can participate.

Yes, new immigrants qualify for OSAP. I applied for and received OSAP although I ended up not making use of it but I think I applied in June (5 months after landing) and received the payments in August.

I am about applying for OSAP 2018/2019 session

He needs to enforce tax payments in Nigeria before thinking of collecting tax from Nigerians abroad.

If tax payment enforcement in Nigeria fully suceeds, then I will be left with no option than to forfeit my Nigerian citizenship instead of paying tax to the Nigerian government, but I hope this does not apply to Nigerians residing abroad that do not pay tax in Nigeria.

Just thought I should drop this here.

Brethren the hustle is real here, as in I mean they're scamers too.

So I received a call and as I picked it was an automated machine voice that said I had to call that number back, that its from the canadian revenue agency and that I have some tax issues that need to be clarified else after some days an arrest warrant would be issued for me. I just paused and told myself say na scam. I just landed wetin join me join tax. Nevertheless I called the number back and the person said he's a tax detective for the CRA and would to know who he's speaking with. Asked my first name which I gave him, asked my second name which I gave him but purposely misspleed it and he said he's bringing up my details. Some seconds later he said yes my details are up so I should verify my post code... And I was like if you have my details with you there why ask me for my post code again. After much ado, he just hung up the phone and the line didn't connect again. I knew the main thing he wanted was my SIN number.

Lessons.... Be smart and don't drop your guard.... Fraudsteres are everywhere not just in naija....

Not necessarily your SIN number... The trick is they make you believe you owe the government and then give you payment options (usually to go get a "whatever" card from a convenience store). Na money them de find.

Apart from the availability of jobs (i.e. some types of jobs are not just available outside big cities), I do not see an advantage of a big city over a small one. Big cities being Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary e.t.c.
In big cities, wages are becoming low, jobs are very competitive (even survival ones), and cost of living continues to rise.

Well said. Add traffic/congestion to that. I hate the big cities, just hype. A small city like Grande Prairie, AB have high paying jobs readily available than say Toronto.

The lady wrote "family of two" and even specifically stated "one parent" and "one child". Even when filling forms, there are different options for marital status: "Miss", "Mrs" and "Ms". The person can choose whichever is applicable to her. Boss13 can choose to answer the question based on the information given and the lady can also choose to give more information if needed. Anyway, case closed.

Lol except e get precedent of Boss13 misyarning, i believe e dey only fair to give am the benefit of a doubt.
