I'm a guy of 22years old,studying in one of Nigeria institution.and my problem is whenever I want to talk to the crowd or the persons above me I used to be fear to the extent that I won't be able to finish all what have prepared for.and this thing has been happening to me since when I was in secoundary school.just today I was defending my project my heart was beating to the extent that I couldn't finish all what have prepared for.please my fellow nairalander in the house what can I do to get rid of this 3 Likes |

What's it that's affecting your self esteem? Please do well to isolate them all and deal with it. For starters, do you think you're not good enough? You don't think you don't fit in cos of your status? ... Just have the mindset that no one is better than you notwithstanding of your circumstances. You're the best version of you, so why limit yourself. Go on. Own who you're. Be proud of you. OP read books on public speaking with that, you'll overcome stage fright. And you may need to stop being overly conscious of your looks. You're the same guy that was complaining of his tribal marks on a thread you created. You said the marks were making you feel unattractive. OP work on your self esteem.I'm sure your tribal marks are the issue here not even stage fright. Your marks make you insecure but a model just got rihanna 's attention and a follow back on instagram even with her marks. Work on your self esteem. 5 Likes |

Depends on what is at your disposal. What you are comfortable with. Rehearse with a group or a friend.. or, in front of the bathroom mirror. Psych yourself up and be truthful. Convince yourself you have all it takes... You have to believe it though. Seriously, they are NOT really better than you. It's YOUR work, YOUR research. YOU put in the time, YOU know everything in that area they DON'T. This is where CONFIDENCE really finds its place. After that it's like Nike, just do it! When your name is called, keep your cool, STEP UP and OWN that sh^t! practice. practice... that's all! |

I have this scar on my head and I'm always shy when I'm no putting on my camp. When it was time for project defense, I started making research on whether or not hats are allowed for project presentation. Guess what I found? BIG NO. I was left with no choice and I went ahead to make my presentation without the cap. I had 77 (A) and I've presented another paper without my cap. My point is: Locate the source of your fear and turn this fear to strength. That's what worked for me, you may also give it a try. #peace 2 Likes |

How about this: all the senior students were your former classmates who got admission before you. Talk to them the way you talk to a normal guy you meet on the way. |

hischosen: Heard of Social Anxiety disorder? Let me prove further, most times, its overwhelming to be around lots of people. You over analyze yourself in public and everything you do. You feel someone, somewhere is watching you when outside? The above mentioned disorder is a mental sickness (it doesn't connote negativity) and can be treated. Research about it to know more. |

try rehearsing with 3 or 4 of your friends regularly. you'll get more comfortable talking to a bigger crowd |

I used to have similar problem but I conquered it before I left the university. Keep the following points in mind A. See the people you are addressing as people learning from you not the other way round . B. No one will approach you on the stage and kill you  C. Master the topic of your discussion very well. D. Save yourself too much grammar E. Avoid direct eye contact . F. Always use use hands to demonstrate when talking. G. Never maintain one direction when talking, always turn . H. Keep the crowd focused you by constantly reminding, if they are with you . this can be done directly/indirectly I. No matter the interruption, never you deviate from main topic , you are the master of that event G. Never look down on yourself , low self esteem . without solving , this others can't be achieved 3 Likes |
