The worst part is that he overestimated his importance for the CIA (being that he was an asset) but was rudely checked backed into reality after spending some time in the slammer with no meaningful end in sight. He was taken out by the same organization that used him before he could spill since they couldn't deliver his mandate to him.

If you care so much about ATIKU's Past. It will be good you also place side by side Buhari's accomplishment in the last 3.5 years so that Nigerians can make comparison then decide.

Abiola went abroad without telling his VP candidate.

Abiola also returned without co-coordinating it with Kingibe properly. He forget Kingibe had his finger on the pulse of Northern happenings and intrigues.

By now Kingibe felt irrelevant to Abiola since decisions were being taken without him knowing.

Remember something: A northerner travelling about with a mere transistor radio and selling Lofinda is more politically savvy than a Southerner with a PhD. Fact.

From the actions during that period Kingibe quickly decoded that he'd have had no influence in Abiola govt. Northerners do not like being out-manoeuvred when it comes to wielding power. It later happened under OBJ/Atiku regime.

Abiola was badly misled. If his long friendship with IBB could not convince him to let him rule, Abiola should have trusted Abacha even far far less.
But Abiola believed Abacha would hand over to him.

Tribalist and terrorist Buhari is more dangerous to the continuing existence of Nigeria as one country. Right now, the main focus should be to get the devil Buhari out of power, restructure Nigeria and restore democracy. Atiku is the only candidate that has the capacity to achieve that. After his first term, hopefully, better candidates would emerge to take us to the promised land.
If tribalist Buhari wins a second term, he would do to the rest of Nigeria what he is presently doing to Plateau, Benue and Taraba States. That would obviously lead to civil war.
