As a newly landed PR, what did you use for evidence for Tax filing

Hello, I didn't submit anything as evidence for tax filing since I've not yet filed a return (see attached). I think the instruction further says "Estimate your taxable income by taking the total gross income you have received to date in 2017 and adding additional amounts you expect to receive until the end of the calendar year".

Wishing you the best!

I wasn't asked for evidence of tax filing. When you fill the form, you fill the portion applicable to those who have not filed taxes in Canada.

@rainazoe, did the agent confirm that they have received the passports you sent in July? In addition, did you confirm that the note on your file was for the same passport request that you were aware of? Is it possible that the photos you submitted in July were also rejected and as such you were sent another passport request? If not, you may want to call them back just to be sure because I think that when they ask for new photos, they give you a 30 day period within which they must receive it or they cancel your application. Anyway, I think that the processing time for a PRTD depends on the country/region you are applying from. You can check the estimated processing time on the cic website. Last I checked, it was about 30 days. Btw thank you for the acca-cpa pointers the last time. The person for whom I was enquiring has now concluded the process and received cpa status.

A three-day cultural gathering to honour residential school survivors and their families began Tuesday at Nathan Phillips Square outside Toronto City Hall.

The Indian Residential Schools Survivors Legacy Celebration aims to spread awareness about its namesake project, a collaboration between Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto, which will consist of an Indigenous healing garden at Nathan Phillips Square centred around a sculpture.

If you're Toronto tomorrow October 12th, you could stop by to interact and hear from the remaining survivors about the horrors and tragedy of the residential school system.

Please Ontario people, when can one apply for childcare benefit after arrival? Is childcare benefit different from childcare subsidy? How much is given for each child? Please help me understand the system

Goodness, all one has to do is google these easily accessible answers to these questions. Childcare subsidy ( I think you mean daycare ?) is different and goes by your income. Most, if not all benefits in Canada is usually determined by your income. Except for things like education or healthcare.

Congratulations on the new CPA to your person!

SHORT Landing gist

Left Lagos via Ethopian airline 1:45pm October 10th, with my spouse and my 1year 8month old baby. It was a beautiful journey, the only thing I can say about Ethiopian airline is that their customer service was great, and they just keep loading us with variety of foods, snacks and drinks at regular intervals. The in flight entertaiment was superb, i watched movies, listened to music and played games. We were supposed to have 2 seats because my baby is not up to 2years, but they made sure we had 3seats and that we were very comfortable. I guess they had enough spare seats on the plane. Landed in Toronto 8am, I was asked some few questions and how much I brought to Canada. I was through with the immigration process within 2hours and have gotten my social insurance number(SIN). Am waiting for my 2pm flight to Calgary.

So we boarded air Canada from Toronto to Calgary, landed 4pm(Calgary time), went to collect our luggages in a section of airport. There we saw some group of Nigerians welcoming Pst Tunde Bakare and snapping his pictures, (apparently we boarded the same flight with him). After gathering our luggage we started wondering were to exchange our Usd for cad so that we can take a taxi to our airbnb apartment. I just told my spouse let's approach our Nigerians brothers, which we did. They welcomed us , showed my spouse where he can exchange USD for cad, and they offered to take us to our apartment. So we were so lucky. My airbnb apartment is great, the host is so nice. Calgary is so beautiful

Congratulations @ emelueobi.

Please how did you secure and paid for your airbnb in Calgary from Nigeria?

Did you get someone to inspect it for you before making payment?

The calculation also requires some additions and that was the point I was trying to make earlier. As tight as it already appears, it is not complete as children come with their own set of expenses - minder (if applicable), after school activities and even the ones they will ask you to pay in school, clothes and shoes to buy as they grow etc. All these should also be factored into the calculation to help her make an informed decision.

That was the reason why I mentioned that she should save her money she propose to buying a car with and channel it to first settling down and getting acclimatized, she may just find a way around it. In the long run, the sacrifice will pay off.. Those minimum wage paying jobs just kinda stick to peoples destiny after doing it for a long while... My dread exactly
