You are very funny. I don't need to do any research. I lived through this period. In fact, what's very funny is that you even listed some cartoons that had not even been produced by the end of 1990.

Freakazoid's original run in the US was from 1995-1997, so how could it have been shown on Nigerian TV in the 1970s and '80s? grin

Waynehead also had its first run in the US and Canada in 1996/1997, so how could it have been shown in Nigeria in the '70s and '80s?

Thanks SO MUCH @op for including The Waterville Gang, been trying to remember the title of this show for ages. In fact as soon as I saw this post, I clicked specifically hoping to see it and for once I wasn't disappointed. Nice one man!

Bringing back the good memories again! grin

We are still young at heart... regardles of whether some of
us are in our 40s or 50s.

"The Thing" was a favourite of mine including the old
late 1970s and early 1980s "Incredible Hulk" series!

Thanks for digging these videos up!

P.S. I didn't see any "Mighty Mouse"video
there... NOT "Danger Mouse."

If we had started developing our own cartoons back then, by now we would think of making them in Nigerian languages.

I probably should have included this in the list. 90% of the show was live action, but they often had puppet and cartoon segments. This should have been the second Nigerian show in the list.

Animal Games ran on NTA 10 from the late 1970s till the late 1980s. It was hosted by Wole Akinnosho (Uncle Wole).

The children in the studio played various animal themed games (darts, races, etc) and winners received prizes from the sponsors of the show. They also had cartoon and puppet segments in which stories involving antropomorphic animals were told.

The theme song (which was sung by children) was

It's time to say hello,
It's time to say hello,
Mr Lion, Mr Cat and Mr Dog,
It's time to say hello

Replace the word "hello" with "goodbye" and you have the closing theme.

That's Uncle Wole and his guitar in the second picture. The picture was taken in 2012.
