All three South African airports were built and renovated in for the 2010 world cup and are still functioning, why didn't the white rulers build before 94?. Because of black selfishness?

You are clearly clueless , when I arrived in south Africa there was no airport of that standard, all these were made possible before the 2010 world cup, jealousy will kill you my brother. Not all black government are like ours check progressive nations like Botswana and Namibia and Kigali, oyinbo? cheesy. The first speed train in Africa was built in 2009 in south Africa by the black ran Anc , why didn't whitties do it before 94 ?. Self hate is a dangerous disease my brother . Free yourself from mental slavery, not all blacks think less of their potential like you.

jealousy, King shaka airport was built and started operating in 2010. oyinbo ruled until 1994.

Lol, most Nigerians on nairaland are bitter about the progress of other Africans, they will say anything to downgrade their progress to our level . Others have learnt from their past mistakes and are taking giant leeps while we keep deluding ourselves. I'm really proud of Rwanda.

Lol, Google is your friend . Not all African nations are like Nigeria, I know it hurts but it's a good thing , it will push us to learn to vote for progressive leaders not looters and liars. Nigeria has people that could make decisions and policies that could rival the black government in south Africa, unfortunately those people can never be voted in because of bigotry.

Rwanda fought a war between Hutu and Tutsi which wrecked their country. They are getting things done now, one of their airports is listed here. They chased religious bandits out and cut down the number of churches to a very low number.. This is a country willing and ready to move forward

God id Good terminal at Utako is better than Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.

I have never been to an airport; and i have been to a lot of airports in this world, where they allow only travellers into the terminal.

I have never seen an airport where they block the drop off point in front of the terminal building

I have never seen an airport where they screen your baggage at the doorway and you have to queue and show passport and ticker before you enter.

I have not seen an airport where customs and immigration staff beg you for money

In our airport, by the time you get to the lounge, you are stressed. You would have passed nearly 4 security checks, off shoe, belt, watch , pant. You would have explained to 10 people that you have no money to give out.

Our leaders travel the world and see other airports and do nothing about ours

We are giants in population and probably in resources after Congo, but that's where it ends , the rest is just delusions for now. We have the potential though to be best in most things , but our collective stupidity on tribalism and religion won't free us .

AutoJoshNG:
We can say it’s a fact that transportation in general affects the development of cities worldwide. Airport development can be linked to economic development of a nation because air transportation comes with a lot of economic benefits.

It facilitates tourism; it provides jobs; encourages trading; it’s a bonus when it comes to emergency and humanitarian aid relief. The economic impact cannot be overemphasized.

SleepinginAirports helped make a survey and then list of the best airports in Africa.

In their annual survey, the asked travelers to rate airports in Africa based on their overall airport experience.

They ranked their experience based on

Comfort (Gate seating & availability of rest zones)
Services, facilities & things to do
Food options
Immigration/Security
Customer service
Cleanliness
Navigation and ease of transitSleepability

Going through their compiled list, you’ll see South Africa is leading with 3 of their airport making top of the list. We can’t find our beloved country, Nigeria. Maybe they will make it this 2018, who knows.

2017 Top 5 Best Airports in Africa

1. Cape Town International Airport, South Africa (CPT):

Cape Town International Airport is the primary airport serving the city of Cape Town and it’s the second busiest airport in South Africa. It holds the record of being the third largest airport in the whole of Africa and has a record of over 10 million passengers annually.

According to survey, the environment is clean, there is free WI-Fi, and the staffs are consistently friendly and helpful.

2. Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport, South Africa (JNB):

This is a major international airport in Gauteng, near to the city of Johannesburg.

OR Tambo international airport is the biggest and busiest airport in Africa, facilitating over 21 million passengers annually.

According to survey, the airport has plenty of shopping, dining, and lounge opportunities that will keep you entertained on a layover in this transit hub.

3. Durban King Shaka, South Africa (DUR):

This is another airport in South Africa. This airport was opened just few months to when the 2010 FIFA world cup started. The airport handled its first commercial flights on 1 May 2010. The airport was named after king Shaka who was the leader of the Zulu nation in the early 19th century.

According to survey, travelers praise the airport for its layout, with manageable walking distances and efficient travel processes.

4. Kigali International Airport, Rwanda (KGL):

Kigali International Airport, formerly known as Gregoire Kayibanda International Airport, is the primary airport serving the capital city of Rwanda.

According to survey, travelers remark on how helpful, friendly, and efficient staff are. Their ability to make check-in and security a breeze is considered by some to be a bit of a continental anomaly.

5. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius (MRU):

According to survey, the airport has the basics of a good travel experience sorted it is reliably clean, the staff are friendly, and there’s plenty of airside seating.

They invest heavily on infrastruture, education and health care. So anything in those categories they are bound to be on the best list . We have the potential to rival them with our resources and human potential , but we still lack organisation and commitment to development .

My friend Runalong , I don't know who you are calling there. I traveled to Rwanda 2 yrs ago. D country is fine and neat but the people are poor, the staff at their airport are unprofessional, the airport is clean but I don't see what will place it on top 5. What of Morocco, Tunisia even Kenya. 3 of them are better than Rwanda in infrastructural dev.

Lol, never mind. Something about your usual comments about other African countries reminds me of that moniker, like the bolded , I don't know why you felt the need to say that when many parts of Africa suffer the same. I've passed through Rwanda and I agree with you that Kenya and Morocco could bit it , maybe they renovated cry.
