People, even Jesus performed traditional rites in his time... his crucifixion for crying out loud, is a human sacrifice.

All the "Christian rites" we see and observe are a mix of European and Jewish traditions... yet we have no issue with all the symbolism of "blood of Jesus", water baptism, kneeling and crossing oneself, kissing various objects of Chrsitiandom (crucifix, rosary, stutues of Jesus, Mary, angels, saints), sanctified wine and bread, pouring olive oil, prayer napkins, swearing/affirming on the Bible, - which otherwise would have been called fetishism if it was Africans doing it. Ironically, the cross, a torture device by Romans to crucify criminals, found itself transformed into a sacred object kissed by millions.

Wake up. Our traditions will always be with us, while Christianity is a 100-year old fad (for Africans) that will pass in time. I place much more value in the rites of Ife than in anything imposed on us from England.
