Hmmm. The legalization of marijuana is going to set Albertan taxpayers back CAD$90million over the next 2 years.

Trust government inefficiency to ruin what should have been a lucrative venture.

Faced the same prob. Your immigrant Visa is only one entry, so you can't reuse it. I asked a Canada Border Services officer and according to him, CBS has no prob letting you back in with your COPR. That however doesn't mean the airline/US officers will accept that. Your PR card is what they'll want to see. So, in summary, you may not be able to regain entry into Canada.

Thank you. Perhaps I can fly out and come in through the land border by Bus. Please landed seniors what is the weather like at this time of the year. Will I be needing thermal wears and all by now or will I be able to dress normal I plan to land later this month.

At this time, you most certainly won't be able to wear nornal clothings pretry much anywhere in Canada.

It may not be too cold in some places for thermal wears to be necessary. But you'll probably need some sweaters and jackets.

Where are you planning to land though?

According to the existing laws in Canada for now, the answer is NO as long as the naturalized citizen did not become a PR and then a citizen using false information or by deceit their citizenship cannot be revoked. The law could possibly be changed in the future but I doubt that it will be changed because everybody (apart from the native Indians) is immigrant in this country. At any rate, we can only go by what the laws are today and not what it could be in the future.
Oga u be lawyer.
How u sabi their laws this way?

I am looking at getting a double stroller from here(i got a fair deal) to use for the 2 youngest kids. but I was thinking since its winter, will I really be needing it? How is movement with kids in winter? I am really indecisive as I dont want to waste money on something if it wont be useful.

Good day all,
How is preparation for the winter?
Please I will like to ask a question; how many months is a woman permitted to work before proceeding on maternity leave? for example in Nigeria, some organisations require you work for at least 1year before going on MAT leave. Please your input will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi there, this might differ with provinces but I’m in Ontario and a woman is expected to work for at least 13 weeks before the date her baby is expected to be born (the due date).

There’s more to read up on https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act/pregnancy-and-parental-leave

So I have been touring Montreal for a week now, more of wandering than touring actually. Been fun, it wasnt until that I got lost with no help in sight. my phone ran out of battery and left me without google maps, a price for taking too many photos I guess. So I think I should share the photos I took to make the over 2hrs I spent trying to find my way home count for something.

Hi guys, I would be landing third week of November in Toronto and I have a couple of questions/concerns.

1. I intend to go with USD 5000 cash and have the bank statement showing the remaining POF in naira. Would that suffice?

2. As regards accommodation, I've been searching for a room in a shared apartment in the GTA (North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough and Mississauga) on a couple of sites now and I haven't been able to come up with something tangible. The ones I've seen are up for rent immediately and might not be available then. Does anyone here know of any available rooms in those areas or know someone who does? Budget is $650

3. What is the best/cheapest phone plan to use in Toronto?

4. For banks, which is the most immigrant friendly.

I apologise if they've been answered before but I've not been able to go through the thread in it's entirety.

This is really good. I bet you can make some money off this if you sell it as a stock picture online. Great job

Hello everyone,Is there anyone who landed in Windsor Ontario in the last one year or two? Kindly share your experiences and your opinion on the city.

Thanks in anticipation

@Datechman pls na
I am yet to meet many people that have stayed in Windsor. It is in the far South West of Ontario bordering the US. It is far from Toronto and the GTA. There are not many jobs there and it's impossible to commute daily to Toronto. The city is best known for it's Automotive industry and Tourism.
It all depends on what your reasons are, it could be a nice place to stay

Is it possible to get a job pre landing for a PR.

I am into IT, And System Security(NOC2281), and will like a quidiance on what to do to secure a job or get interviews before landing. Just got PPR and planning next year landing(App/May).

However, if offers come up, willing to do the landing asap.

2. I would advise you get an Airbnb's room. You can then start searching for a permanent place.
3. Luckymobile, Freedom mobile, Chatr seems to be the budget lines.
3. All of them are good. RBC, CIBC, Scotiabank, TD.

I.T roles are majorly dependent on experience. I would advise you check out job sites to see what a typical requirements for the role are. In many cases, there's always a skill deficiency to address. It's competitive out here.
The odds of you getting a job from Nigeria is slim. Most companies love to hire someone on ground.

Best wishes

What you do is speak Yoruba to them all the time. My kids don't interact too as its from home to school, school to house and be inside fence all day. All my kids speak Yoruba including my 3 year old and what I do is speak to them in Yoruba concerning anything at all. Even when I pick them up from school the only English I speak Is "get into the car" I start with the 'Bawo ni school?, oya e jekalo, bag e da? "

So if it's to get a glass of water. When u say "bami bu omi wa" and they look confused just say "get me water" next time they know what it means. Don't make the sentences long too. Keep it short and Simple and with time they get to express well.

No matter where we are I speak my Yoruba to the kids. I don't care who's looking. Cos sometimes I get stares and Na me sabi wetin I want. They already speak good English so why not Yoruba?

I even think they will learn faster as they are kids, so just try simple conversations with them and request for things in Yoruba, ask questions in Yoruba. Don't give up. They will get it.

I've also heard of kids who speak 3 languages well (never seen one though) but I'm hoping my kids will learn and know French too. So na French Yoruba English all join. grin

Wow...I doff my hat for your conscientiousness.

We'll try to put to use your suggestions. Hoping for a successful outing. cheesy

It will end in praise IJN!

Haba cutting hair is not that hard now. There are lots of wives that now cut their husbands hair since arriving in Canada.

A clipper and trimmer (detailer) from walmart would easily get the job done.

You can get a full bedroom apartment(living room + bedroom + toilet & bath + kitchen) for about 580 to 620 cad per month (including utilities, except Power).. Metro card cost 85cad per month, gives you unlimited access to both bus and subway for the month. I dont know the exact cost of car insurance, I dont drive, but I do know it's about the lowest in Canada.
