Nothing remain the same forever....it may not be negotiable now (to you) but time is coming your linage would question your position and be strong advocate for the opposite.
Is it true that we are happy with the present situation of things? Can we truely say we have one common goal as a people? Is there any destination we are heading now? It is purely survival of the fittest group! Destinies are being choked and it is really painful!
Re: Nigeria’s Unity, Not Negotiable - Gowon by anungangampu:
Still stuck in the war days.
Nigeria needs to operate under a law that would fasten the whole region together..

The Civil War was not for unity in the first place but just to change seat of power from minority to majority.

So Nigeria to be peaceful they need to engage in a kind of war again whether physical or mental war. That's why Yorubas has been fighting mentally.

But the psychopath up north think everything is by gun powder.

Na una people go suffer am the most. As illiteracy and poverty is the worst Form of human casualty.

The fulani tribe from West Africa are trying to make Nigeria their home settlement since most countries have been pushing them out. With that, they will start from the rich middle belt and then move southward. The present government is making everything possible by installing all service chef from same region.

They are doings this because they know Nigeria is resting on a fake Unity mantra and won't be able to fight from within.

Poor people like our General who has sold their conscience to monthly entitlement will never see it even when they see it they would look the other way cos they are poor in mind and physically poor (hungry for more money)

History will judge you. Speech like this will take Nigerians about 20-50yrs before people of dynamic mind thought can come up with great ideas again. For now we will keep on hearing those war Mantras of 1970.

No f00l like an old fool, Jack boy, still trying to please, Jack Boy, who was always sidelined in favour of the hot headed Murtala, and who was eventually betrayed by those he tried so hard to please and fit in with.
You should have gotten the memo by now just because you speak like them, sound like them, act like them doesnt make you one of them.
In the Great Gatsby after Jay Gatsby told Tom Buchahan that because he was rich, he was just like him, Tom laughed and said, you can never be like me, its in the blood .

A former Head of State, Retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon, has reiterated his commitment to the unity and oneness of Nigeria.
Gowon made this assertion on Tuesday at an exhibition in honour of one the country’s foremost physician, Emeritus Prof. Oladipo Akinkugbe in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exhibition was held as part of the activities to celebrate the 85th Birthday of the renowned physician.
Gowon, while speaking as a Special Guest of Honour at the event held at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, said that peace and unity of the country was not negotiable.

While commending Nigerians for their resilience in the face of untold hardship, he urged them to strive toward maintaining the oneness of the country as a single entity at all costs.

“You are all aware of my strong desire and commitment for the peace and unity of our nation.
“I want to further add my voice to the call for peace and national unity.

“I want to reiterate in the strongest term that the peace and unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable.
“I will continue to work at achieving the much desired peace and unity that we crave daily for our country.
“I am strongly of the belief that for the future of our nation to be assured, we must strive to build legacies of peace and unity,” Gowon said.
He advocated more tolerance and understanding among Nigerians to put an end to the spate of killings in the country.

Gowon also advised Nigerians to stop killing one another for no just cause.
According to him, understanding, brotherliness, accommodation and patriotism must be exhibited to restore peace across the country.

He then described prayers as a formidable weapon that could solve the nation’s many challenges faster.
Gowon, while extolling the virtues of Akinkugbe, said that the professor ranked first in role modelling and was worthy of recognition in the health sector.

He tasked the upcoming medical professionals to see Akinkugbe’s life as a yardstick to measure the quality of their contributions to the profession and national development.
“As a university and hospital administrator, his works will continue to speak for him in all the institutions, countries and continents where he has served.

“His membership and fellowship of international professional organisations and societies attest to the quality of his expertise,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman, UCH Board of Management, Alhaji Ibrahim Shetimma, noted that the history of Nigeria would have been different if not for the contributions of the foremost physician’s intervention.
He recalled that when the economy of the country nose-dived, it was people like Prof. Akinkugbe that came to the rescue before the challenge could be surmounted.

Also, the UCH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Temitope Alonge, in his remarks, said that there was no gainsaying the fact that the country was blessed with talents and icons in various endeavours of daily lives.
According to him, there are some who are inherently outstanding without doubt.

“For 50 years, the elegant figure of this gentle giant has straddled the length and breadth of Nigeria in many capacities including terrains that were exclusively for the arts and social sciences.

“Today, the medical world stands in admiration as it recounts the contributions and selfless services provided by the Prince of Ondo Kingdom and a man with chieftaincy titles from within and outside the shores of his native land.

“Emeritus Prof. Akinkugbe has rubbed shoulders with the high and mighty in his generation, not minding his humble beginning; he has made his mark in medical practice to the admiration of all to see.
“He has taken so much pleasure in transnational medicine and has mentored grandfathers and fathers of various medical specialties in our country,” he said.

According to him, Akinkugbe has championed the dangers inherent in the neglect of communicable diseases and the mention of his name automatically brings the 10 common causes of hypertension and renal diseases to one’s lips.

GENERAL GOWON WITH HIS OUTDATED INDOCTRINATION.

It was this wrong indoctrination that he sold to young officers like Buhari during their military days in the north.

Quite unfortunately his own Plateau state people and a large segment of middle belt state people are being killed by the Hausa/Fulani that they are ganging up with under the so called one Nigeria to undermine southern interest.

I pray that he seek God's forgiveness for the tribulation he has brought to his own people.

General Gowon if he is a good and honest man is supposed to be calling for restructuring from our militarized federalism.

But he keep preaching his usual biblical epistle called ONE NIGERIA!

Gowon speaks about NON-NEGOTIABLE UNITY OF NIGERIA from the standpoint of someone living in Mars.

DOES HE NEED EVERY ONE IN HIS HOMETOWN TOTALLY WIPED OUT OF NIGERIA BEFORE HE KNOWS THAT NIGERIA IS NOT A UNITED COUNTRY?

we are used to this kind of statements and it doesn't move us anymore, we Biafrans only know one thing our destination, and that destination is Biafra. And we are moving into it with full force, anything that stands on our way will be crushed.

Gowon,
You started state creation in Nigeria in 1967.

Later, Muritalla Mohammed, Ibrahim Babangida and ultimately, Sani Abacha, exploited it to create a whooping number of 20 states in former northern region, but in the former two southern regions, Abacha allowed only 17 states.

Because of this daylight robbery political structure under unitary governance system, Nigeria will NEVER KNOW PEACE AGAIN UNTIL IT BREAKS.

Land mass is never used anywhere as yardstick to determine how many new political units can be created in any area in a country earlier formed by diverse regions.

Biko free me if you are tired of Nigeria all you bollocks zombies pls leave, go and let peace reign.

That is why you reneged on AHIARA DECLARATION and declared war on Biafra.
You are one of the problems Nigeria has.

Many lazy youths don't know the real reason of Nigeria's civil war.

Read up why there was pogrom against Igbos in the north and Igbo Generals got angry and hatched the first coup and later retaliated by a counter coup by northerners, leading to this current mess we have as a country. Read and emancipate yourselves. Buhari was right after all by calling the youths Lazy.
