lost my in law in that accident, beside can't the government do something about that very bridge. I mean the protectors at the sides of the bridge.they are eye sore they don't have enough power to protect vehicles which are about to splurge into the river,.MAY THEIR SOULS REST IN PEACE.AMEN

Yesterday was a horrible day for me. I got to the scene of the accident on my way from my office, Robinson Gbagi Mal, Effurun. Two of the accident victims managed to swim out and they confessed that they dont even know how to swim. The accident happened at the peak of the downpour. If the two guys had not survived, nobody would have known anything like that happened, cos there were no eye witnesses. Just after i got there, few sympathizers contributed money to buy the needed "Marine Rope" and the first divers insisted that we must pay 50k mobilisation before they can venture into the fast flowing and dirty river. After some haggling, the divers collected 20k and they ventured into the river. Yet, there wasnt any meaningful outcome after 2hours.

I had to volunteer my Toyota Hilux to pull out the "drowned" vehicle, block the road to divert traffic, stay under the rain for 2hours and yet the crowd was so noisy and the whole place was chaotic. No cordination, no FRSC, no Police, no NEMA. I had to leave the scene deflated, angry, frustrated and dazed. This is the 3rd on that bridge in 2months.

I got home late and i couldnt get a good sleep cos the whole scenario was playing back in my dreams. I just hate to be in this Country, Nigeria.

There's a spiritual undertone to the accidents happening there.. Good you were on ground and you saw the the survivors, according to you they both can't even swim. They were saved by the river deity coz they're indigenes of that community 'Agbarho', I'm from there as well.

It's actually four of such accidents this year alone.. According to some sources, there's story that the deity is angry because the women ( 2 priestesses) who use to serve/worship him (the deity) gave their lives to Christ, so no one does that anymore. Lol

As funny as that sounds there's every reason to believe it could be true.. And of course if you're spiritual you'd agree with me that nothing just happens outta the blues.
