i bought a digital battery analyser from aliexpress, and was very happy, my days of guessing a batss state of charge and health is over, alas the device didnt give stable readings, you could test a battery and it would state bad 4x for the batt, then 5th n 6th time, it would state good!.

collect rainwater straight from the skies and read , test same smaple consecitively for abt 10x, confirm its giving the same reading

I and my bro bought one each and we have been comparing results which turned to be similar except in some case where difference +1 or - 1 as the case may be. Also when we added liquid soap to our tap water reading went as high as 198 so let's pray it's not Chinese Chinese

Nice one! I told ya - allowing the AC to run for 1 hour or so should help clear out particulates and make for cleaner condensate water.

Actually, 8 parts per million of dissolved salts/solids is a wonderfully good figure and better than what most battery manufacturers recommend. I have run other tests to ascertain that 6 - 8ppm of tds is the factual value for A/C condensate. Distilled water fares better by measuring 2 - 4ppm. Well-processed deionised water measures roughly the same (I suspect the copper tubing is the source of the extra tds for condensate as I've measured from various sources using various glass and plastic receptacles).

Hmmmmm! … I suspect the container used to capture the water or the AC drain pipe has dirt or sediments that are corrupting the results - if you are able, you should let the AC run well for like an hour to clean out the pipe before you capture water for the test.

I would really be happy to know as I have a lot of people (including me) who use AC condensate water for batteries, car radiator and ironing (steam).

I'm in the market for a battery monitor that shows correct soc that doesn't fluctuate with load. I initially bought 2 of these your monitors for my 2 x 220ah from AliExpress and was not happy when they also fluctuate with load and shows exact same voltage as my axpert inverter making them only useful as a voltmeter to compare the 2 batteries. Victron bmv monitors are ridiculously expensive while the fangpusun clone is around $60 which to me is still expensive. Is there any altenatives? I might go for the fangpusun bmv 700 if I get some coupons from AliExpress during 11.11 sales

I can not agree more. These thread has created a central place for solar enthusiastic which makes it perfect target market. But do not damage the goose that lays the golden egg. The volume of discussions here has already dropped no thanks to the ads. We are not saying no ads. Just that discipline should be applied and the pages shouldn't be spammed to death. If water pass garri nobody will benefit o. Let us apply decorum. The last thing you won't is a user revolt against marketers.

you guys are very much on point. sometime ago, i spoke vehemently against
these frequent ads clogging the thread. a particular marketer was chief culprit then
and after much heated back and forth exchanges, he was made to back down and
today he's a regular contributor to discussions while still running his adverts on the side
which is a good thing if you ask me.
presently i have identified about two main culprits who only come here to drop off lengthy
ads and make zero contributions. it's as if here is their marketplace and they think they
can just come and dump their wares on us. the only time they post is when they want
to advertise. no contributions to topics, no replies to questions, nothing!
we may have to apply the methods we used to bring that chief marketer to the
discussion table to them also. it's high time they get to know this thread is not their
dumping ground.

I see very lengthy ads and I wonder if it's the whole Alaba market being advertised here. How can half a page be one marketer advert?

I feel your pain. Same experience here. I've seen price gaps as wide as 5 to 10k on a single solar panel from some marketers (names withheld). Like you said, its not by force to buy from them. I believe only those that are not truely DIYers will just jump in buy at any price thrown at them.

In all, this advert frenzy is getting totally out of hand. So my small advice to us is to continue to do our own research on what, where, and how much we are willing to pay for our solar. If they like, let them put HA02 for 35k, we know road to Aliexpress.

Just noticed your post. You're very right, anion/cation filters/exchangers are wonderful devices.
Ground water invariably contains lots of dissolved minerals and the "sparkling" ones are not exempt. I take it Namzy has both filtration and ion exchange systems installed else, I'm still baffled.

Borehole water gets as high as 63 ppm in tds for "clean" water (hardly any different from a well maintained well). Municipal water is so variable in tds, I can't even quote a figure but it depends a lot on the distance to the water plant (the 12 I quoted earlier was from the taps in some neighbouring buildings of a water works somewhere in Ibadan). The 18 - 38 I quoted are for home and factory boreholes (similar values, if only a bit lower than wells which go as high as 51). Some are brownish/cloudy (presumably the aquifer wasn't reached) so I don't even test. Your borehole water remains extraordinary to the point of me not believing there isn't a microfilter or exchanger inline somewhere.

I feel your pain. Same experience here. I've seen price gaps as wide as 5 to 10k on a single solar panel from some marketers (names withheld). Like you said, its not buy force to buy from them. I believe only those that are not truely DIYers will just jump in buy at any price thrown at them.

In all, this advert frenzy is getting totally out of hand. So my small advice to us is to continue to do our own research on what, where, and how much we are willing to pay for our solar. If they like, let them put HA02 for 35k, we know road to Aliexpress.

Lol 5k price gap is fair. I'm seeing price gap of 20-30k especially on inverters. Well all is well

Just noticed your post. You're very right, anion/cation filters/exchangers are wonderful devices.
Ground water invariably contains lots of dissolved minerals and the "sparkling" ones are not exempt. I take it Namzy has both filtration and ion exchange systems installed else, I'm still baffled.


Borehole water gets as high as 63 ppm in tds for "clean" water (hardly any different from a well maintained well). Municipal water is so variable in tds, I can't even quote a figure but it depends a lot on the distance to the water plant (the 12 I quoted earlier was from the taps in some neighbouring buildings of a water works somewhere in Ibadan). The 18 - 38 I quoted are for home and factory boreholes (similar values, if only a bit lower than wells which go as high as 51). Some are brownish/cloudy (presumably the aquifer wasn't reached) so I don't even test. Your borehole water remains extraordinary to the point of me not believing there isn't a microfilter or exchanger inline somewhere.

I'll ask if a filter was installed. For now natural spring water for sale lol

The quoted price of US$999 is too high for that capacity and chemistry. If you are a DIY person, I suggest you CALB LifePo4 batteries instead.

For the capacity of 1200WH (24V 50AH) you require 8units of CALB 3.2v 50AH batteries. You can easily get a 50AH CALB LiFePo4 battery at US$60 each or less. The CALB batteries are also rated at 3000-5000 cycles at 80% DOD.

I am not one to normally post on Nairaland or disparage people but just to add to what others have said about marketers above. My personal experience is with the guy called kiekie1.

I contacted him a year ago to ask about thundervolt 6v 400 ah batteries which he had advertised on this thread. On sending him a whatsapp message with questions regarding the product, his first response was to post his account details. I asked a few questions and his responses were tardy and unsatisfactory and as a result, I tried to probe further. He became rude and actually said people like me who do not know about inverters and batteries should allow people like him make choices for us. I was so annoyed because we were discussing a purchase of almost a million and told him I had been using inverters and batteries for 6 years. Possible before he even started selling solar products. I ended the conversation.

A few weeks after, I decided to make the purchase and on sending him another whatsapp message, I realized that I had been blocked by him. Well, I assumed this was a one off and let it slide.

A couple of months ago, a lady I know wanted a luminous inverter and I asked her to contact the same kiekie1. She did on whatsapp but he did not have the 1.5kva inverter she needed. He had a newer model which was 20K more expensive so she couldn't afford it at that time and she told him so. When the money was ready in another 4 days and she contacted him again on whatsapp, she found out she had been blocked too. Possibly because he tried to push a new product on her and she said she didn't want it.

As far as I am concerned, people like kiekie1 should not be in business. He is rude and arrogant. This guy is a regular Nigerian business man who thinks he is king and customers should not have an opinion because he considers himself an expert. Look at the last 30 pages of this thread, he neither contributes nor answers questions. He just spams the thread with inflated prices and asks you to contact him on whatsapp to discuss further. This guys just defeat the general idea of the thread which is to offer ideas and solutions to DIY enthusiasts.

kiekie1, if you read this message, adjust your ways, else you would loose customers faster than you imagine. I personally will NEVER deal or recommend you to anyone again.

hahaha, @ bolded, so true, transacting with him , i always end up feeling somehow at the end of the day, his style of marketing cum sales could really fare better with some upgrdes, i made the decision not to patronize him again too, unless i got no other choice.no need writing an epistle of unsavoury or irritating things he does, i hope he reads this and takes up a course on marketing , customer relations and emotional intelligence, in the present day world, his present sales style is no longer fashionable.
