Mostly they don't trade and if they trade , not computer based trading, instead they bring in more investors and Innovations to their businesses that create positive news and spark their profits up which further increases their shares and investments and he (they don't) doesn't trade like us.
Most of what causes those ripples are speculations, emergency government policies, business wars and sudden company press reports or data report which some speculators take serious and makes them sell off/buy off faster than expected ,and further depreciate/appreciates the shares respectively. The last statement is what happened to Jeff. Bad Amazon quater reports worse than expected on Thursday, then massive sell off on Friday. That's what news can cause just as we always advice - don't trade close to the news release, it can cause lots of damages and speculations and uncertainties for a while.
