OP, just contact an agent. He'll tell you when the price has reduced and then you can buy. Even Aliexpress does what Jumia has done here.

Are you trying to say jumia gives discount to some set of special persons or what? Cox if they actually do what they say, the discount should be visible to all!

Black Friday is actually a scam (especially for e-commerce stores). The secret is the price changes is done automatically by a software or should I say a bot. It tracks the way you're interacting with the website (e.g if the way you're surfing through the web pages shows \that you're in a rush to buy something as it applies in black Friday), it increases the price automatically. It also applies to a situation where you're reluctant to buy something from the e-commerce website e.g it might generate a pop-up of 20% discount to persuade you to buy the item immediately.

In conclusion, you guys should enjoy your black Friday scam from jumia, konga and the rest, while it lasts. kiss grin

Wondering how I got to know this

Do your research.

Most prices on Jumia are hijacked. Can you imagen same product being advertised with different prices on same platform.
That was how I bought a Dubai made phone, I didn't like it and it was very difficult to resale even as brand new because the product is not original.

No the prices really drop and is visible to all but you might not be online to notice it. That's where an agent comes in. The phone I use now was initially priced at 46k but I got hold of an agent and when the price dropped to 36k he contacted me and I bought it. Might not happen for every product though.

A few days ago i took a screenshot of the tab s3(180k according to the advert) I wanted to get on black Friday and I also added it to my wishlist with hope that there would be at least 40% discount. Only to open the app today just to find out they've removed it from my wishlist. Went back to the official samsung store on jumia to add it back, then I noticed that they've inflated all tab s3 prices to about 200,000 and even 230,000.

Now when they want to give the discount on black friday, it may be the initial 180k

Don't be silly, you are the funny person here.

Of course I know it was a discount as I could see the -whatever percent displayed on the page!

But then it's funny how all the prices from 180k to 189k(over 10 of them) could all disappear on same day after almost 2 months of being there? And it's not even the same store, so even if the one of 180k stopped the discount, what happened to others that were 181,185,188?

I'm glad you said its 200k minimum in stores(and 230k max according to my research), but go and look at the prices there. They would put 300k as the actual price then cancel it and present it as 230k so people would think there was actually a discount. Now that's daylight robbery!

It's all a psychology trick all in attempt to boost sales, you think they are so charitable to sell at a loss or less profit.

Nothing like free lunch, they work in the psychology of the buyers to make it look like they are giving them a rare opportunity, thus sales skyrocket and people eventually but what they may not even intend buying.
More money for the sellers, the buyers have been fooled in mass.

You just displayed how dangerously ignorant you are about Ecommerce, your point makes sense at face value to a fool but lacks complete cohesion and I begin to worry how many people you have misled by your unguarded and poor pace of research into the dynamics of Ecommerce.

So you know the 180k was a whooping discount of over 20 fūcking k) and you're part of those calling Jumia scam angry

Jumia is a market place angry There are people selling tokunbo 2011 venza (same spec) for 4m, and others selling for as high as 8m angry (Yeah, a crazy world) angry
It depends on how much a seller values the product at based on how much he bought it, etc angry

In periods of awoof, prices go back to normal so that discounts can be given angry You can't give ddiscount on an already discounted price angry That alone sounds silly angry

So next time you see a price lower than the market price, that is called DISCOUNT! angry
