One way to free up stuff is to save them on the cloud. Another way is to transfer music, videos and pictures to SD card.

The memory can never be accurate because some space are used by different partitions of your phone eg system(that's where you have the OS), data, cache etc. So it's expected.

Yes you have to use an active dstv smart card to activate dstv now app. You can use the smart card of any friend who subscribes regularly. One card can take up to 4 devices on dstv now app. Yes you must use data, but the data consumption is minimal if you choose the lowest stream quality.
