We respect our president, our parents, our elders, we show them honor? I believe the right question should be: why should I not respect the mother of my saviour, the obedient handmaiden of God, with whose agreement the incarnation was worth?

Well, since it seems you haven't read much, you might want to start with a simple one like Alice in Wonderland. It's available online for free, as is Orwell's 1984, which is good too. Then consider Achebe's Things Fall Apart and Adichie's Purple Hibiscus, both which I consider essential reading for Nigerians. They are fiction, but would at least make you consider that the written word is written by human beings, and that 'believing' is a choice.

For non fiction, try Swedenborg's Heaven and Hell. It's an interesting book about the author's trips to heaven and hell. And if you can handle a book in Yoruba, try Fagunwa's Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Olodumare.

To be sincere though, any reading apart from religious text would most likely benefit you since it does not appear to be a thing you've done much of.

in genesis 3:15 God promised a new Eve aka Woman whose seed is the new Adam and he established a perpetual enmity between the new Eve and the devil, between her offspring and the devils offspring.

Paul tells us that Jesus is the new Adam who reverses the old Adams sin, Mary then is the new Eve the fulfilment of that prophecy, the woman.

For non fiction, try Swedenborg's Heaven and Hell. It's an interesting book about the author's trips to heaven and hell. And if you can handle a book in Yoruba, try Fagunwa's Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Olodumare.

To be sincere though, any reading apart from religious text would most likely benefit you since it does not appear to be a thing you've done much of.

You don't understand that books are written by human beings and that they don't drop down from heaven. Reading more would help you put things you believe into some rational perspective and improve your intellectual abilities.

These books would specifically allow you to learn what fantasy is. After all, you aren't likely to believe Alice actually was in wonderland, or that Swedenborg really did go to heaven and then hell, despite his detailed description.

Starting with these would prepare you to read some more serious stuff, next year perhaps. Let me know how you get on now.
