Unilorin Increases school fee by 50%
Few months ago the government made mention of how they will increase federal institutions fee, meanwhile everyone decided to stay against it and everything was left behind.

But the interesting started when the University of Ilorin started increasing their fee outrageously, first of all, those of their graduating students were the first target, when their convocation fee was raised to #21,800. All effort made was to no avail.

Then the real increment shows up after the convocation was over, school fees of returning students were increase by 50% in comparison to their last payment.
Check their evidence of payment of school from #24, 500 to increase to 28,000 and further higher prices.

The student writes.

We are the daughters and the sons of those you refuse to increase their minimum wages.
It’s no longer a news that recently the federal universities are now increasing their charges on everything. In my school, it all started from the increment of convocation charges which was increased 2 times the initial payment paid a year before. The minimum wages of our parent is not up to the amount it was increased to. The most recent one is the increment in our school fee charges. Although, we don’t know which is going to be the next to be increased but we want the federal government to know that our parents aren’t a politicians like them. They are barely a pepper seller, local shoe maker and some already lost their job a long time ago. We are their hope and the only future they wish to invest in. Please don’t cut short their dreams. I am writing this so that every other aspect of payment that you are planning to increase should be pended or scrapped. If we can’t enjoy a free education as a student attending a federal government schools unlike your children who aren’t in this country and who can never attend same school as ours, then help us the poor to actualize our dream by making all federal government schools a free of charge so that poor people can attend and keep attending. The universities VCs should equally see to this. We struggle all day long to eat, struggle to enter the school premises for lectures and struggle to leave the school back to our various hostel. The concern departments in charge of this sudden increment should look into it and help us reduce it to what it use to be before now or lesser than that.

Increase is part of the way forward.
Let us be fair, any serious mind looking to get admitted into UniLorin and enjoy govt subsidy of of 250k yearly should be ready to cough out 60-70k yearly as fees.
