A doctor has passed away after collapsing at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Edo state.

The deceased identified as Dr. Okeoghene Egigba from Okwovwori, Amukpe in Sapele area of Delta state, died in the early hours of yesterday after slumping while on duty in the hospital. 

Until his death, Dr. Okeoghene was a Senior Registrar in the Department of Surgery.

According to reports, he was undergoing training to become a full fledged surgeon before his sudden death.

It was gathered that the department of surgery was shut down yesterday to mourn the death.

A close friend Chika Ndulue took to social media to mourn the loss. She wrote; Chief Okeoghene Egigba. Dutiful, respectful, warm, jolly good fellow. Even in the world beyond, you will always have my respect. It is all souls day, may God receive your soul, may you intercede for us.

Next time when you see doctors going on strike and some other professions in the medical field come online to rubbish their image or demand same pay.. Let stories like this come to mind. The medical profession is the most stressful and abused profession in Nigeria. Nigeria is a dream killer for medical doctors
