jieta:Bro we talking facts not feelings. We talking present not past. Nigeria had it and we proud of those greats and their achievements for the national team. When they were there, Ivory Coast had nothing on us but same cant be said of the present midfielders bar, iwobi, Ndidi and aged Mikel. Now tell me, can u compare these carpenters(Etebo, Ogu, Agu) with any of our greats past? My dear I cant settle for less, hence I no fit follow una dey glorify mediocrities. A team where Wilson Oruma was a fringe player is parading the Agus, Etebos, Ogus of this world as midfielders and u want Chriskels to be hailing them? Ogbeni make I hear word |

junnyjake:Exactly! See how Maradona failed. Why Pele too no try? I have always told people that someone like JJ Okocha can never make a good coach. I have held this opinion since his playing days. Many of them are technically gifted but tactically deficient. |

Chrismario:Yeah mostly true. Look at Nigeria's top footballers and see their coaching careers:Amuneke, Amokachi,Siasia, Oliseh. JJ and Kanu just respected themselves no try am. With the exception of Keshi who by the way did not play football at the level most of those above played. Siasia too tried sha and of course he didn't play at the level those on the above list played. Truely, the average or below average players are the ones that make good coaches. |

The problem with football today is the expectation of quick results. Thierry Henry definitely has the knowledge and skills for the job. However, rescuing a sinking ship is tough. I hope he gets the support and faith to pick up the team. If he gets sacked, he should try again. |

Icon4s:Because maybe they are not naturally gifted. They spent many years learning how to (do whatever) from coaches to fit in while the good ones are showcasing skills like neymar and Pogba during trainings. Modified: this two dancers listed above are likely to be worse-ter* than Mr Neville if they try coaching |

Icon4s:What of Diego Simeone and Rijkaard who played at the highest level for club and country? Even Diego Simeone had a very rough patch in Argentina. It takes patience and belief to swing the tide in the direction of the coach. Even Keshi had a rough patch with one of the junior teams before it clicked for him. Unfortunately, football lacks patience and result is what people think about. I hope Henry gets the support he needs from the management. He can do it with time. If not, he looks for a smaller club in France and keeps trying. |

Chrismario:Good news for us then. By the time this present crop of carpenters and average players like Agu, Ogu, Iheanacho and co retires, we'll have a bunch of superb coaches on our hands. . |

Chrismario:Gary Neville gave up too early. He is a genius. He just took a drastic step going to Valencia where the philosophy is totally different from what he worked with in England. Then playing against top teams who understood the Spanish game more than him. I believe Gary will do better with an English side and with time to grow. |

From Wiki on Diego Simeone: On 7 November 2008, Simeone announced his resignation as coach of River Plate after their elimination in the quarter-finals of the 2008 Copa Sudamericana by Mexican side Chivas and a poor run of form of 11 domestic matches without a win, which left them bottom of the Primera División Argentina with only six matches remaining If you judge Simeone on this patch, he will look poor. With patience and adjusting his philosophy, he was able to turn out a top manager. I hope Monaco are patient with Henry. It was already a damaged team before his arrival. |
