2019: Why My Son Is Supporting Buhari – Okupe by Limitednow: 11:08pm On Nov 08, 2018
Doyin Okupe, former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has stated why his son is supporting President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 general election.

Mr Okupe, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a leading political figure working for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

On Thursday, his son, Ditan Okupe, expressed interest to join the re-election campaign train of Mr Buhari.

“It is with great pleasure that I use this opportunity to indicate my keen interest in joining your campaign team for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he partly wrote in an epistle addressed to Festus Kayamo, the director-general, Strategic Communications of Buhari’s campaign organisation.

In the letter seen by POLITICS TIMES, the son of the PDP chieftain said there was no better candidate to lead the country now aside Mr Buhari.

This is coming weeks after Abraham Obasanjo, son of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, decided to pitch his tent with the president.

The former Nigerian leader and his son are not in good terms. Same could be said of the Okupes hence the political difference between the parents and their children.

Reacting to the decision of his son, Okupe said the young lad decided to support Mr Buhari because of the conflict between them which dates back to five years ago. He thereafter wished him well.

“Ditan okupe is my Son,” he said in a tweet late Thursday.

“He is a very brilliant young man. He went to Kings college, Lagos, Burkinham university, UK & did post graduate in law at d London school of economics.”

“We both hv had serious issues in the last 5yrs.This may be his way of getting back at me. I wish him luck.”

When a son chooses to spite the father by intentionally taking the wrong decision, when the fight becomes unbearable in his end he always finds his way back home to the father.

I hope his brain isn't filled with indomie like his father.

In any case, I wouldn't trust an Okupe.

They trust Buhari more than you.

But why can't they follow your steps?

I can't see Yusuf, Fatima and Zahra doing to Buhari what your sons are doing to you.

Yes its obvious the class of people that want Buhari back, the well reasonable young stars that will not live under the shadow of their famous fathers. the youths wants the total change and its still on not to be truncated until 2023, while the old selfish armed robber fathers want us to halt the wheel of progress and return to their own style that has left country in ruin in the past 16 years.

First it was Obasanjo's and now Okupe. the next may be Atiku's son. any reasonable person in this country knows that though Buhari may not have meet up to our expectations but he cannot be outperformed by any PDP candidate for now. 4yrs is too short to change PDP 16yrs mindset of corruption.

Either way the family will keep its bread and butter intact.

Okupe does not believe Atiku will win. If he did he would not have diversified his family.

...A mole in the house?....And foolish APC chaps are there rejoicing instead of being cautious and apprehensive.

Anyway, anything to hasten Buhari's back to Daura journey is a welcome development.

Okupe is a green snake.

The mere fact that he listed all his son's qualifications in a tweet means he is inadvertently marketing him to the Buhari administration.

Doyin Okupe remains a green snake where politics is concerned.
Atiku be careful, this looks like an in-house arrangement to ensure a win-win situation for the Okupes either way the election goes.

Smart family politics, people of that region were the dude above me comes from don't just understand how to be leberal, or have individual political views.
To them it is an abomination to have different political views, if you do, you must be insulted.
However
The fastest way to get yourself marginalized is to sheepishly follow a particular political party, because should PDP lose 2019 polls to buhari, that vengeful man would torment the 5%ters with Python dance and economic and political marginalisation... If you don't want to seat at a corner or stand while others are seating to discuss national policies you must play smart politics deviod of bitterness
