[quote author=hok4u post=72809542] It's a lie, that your logic is wrong, you don't get first class by runs, you've got to be brilliant and intelligent, getting a first class is not a fluke, you earn it. You have said it exactly how it is, those who couldn't get it are just jealous of the few ones who got it. |

Proud ex City boy, i have been lucky to attend both public and a private school and I understand the envy of our brothers from the 20k schools. The truth is lead city gives you access to a lot of textbooks and learning material which are still useful to me years after graduation. And most of the best lectures in public institutions come to lecture in private university (and they dear not behave recklessly with students as it is obtained in government schools). Another major difference is the quality control department, that monitors the standards of education and teaching services in private schools to give you your money worth of values 2 Likes |

eneez: To an extent they are right woh, a cousin of mine failed jamb twice, the WAEC was also manageable, Most naija uni refused am admission, so d papa decided to send am abroad, now the person don graduate with 2.1 just a bit less than firstt class. Once had the opportunity to visit him at school, Omo see enjoyment, if I was at that school I will get first class while sleeping 18 hours a day But I will be honest though, some of these private universities students are intelligent & hava access to learning materials far ahead of those in public universities. some students do deserve their qualifications |

Frustrating students as obtainable in public schools in Nigeria does not equate academic standard at all. The system (Lecturers, infrastructure, etc) in private schools is friendly and easy. And that's what makes the difference. Having tasted the two, I will always prefer private over public. |

confusedGuy: is it your Uniben or UI or Uniport that reduces student's score or mark that is better?. In the course of touring different states, I overhead some students complaining bitterly that the department of English and Linguistic University vow to reduce first class meant for some students. To worsen matters, the department told them that they will start reducing their marks from 200 level to final years so as not to produce any first class. Whereas their counterpart are getting it with easy based on merit. it is a shame for the so called prestigious universities |

Ibcrown:Change this mindset of yours because lecturers in your school are sadists. Many of them have vowed that first class will difficult to get. |

Loose grading system. How many can make first class on a 5point grading system? The students will still perform better on 5 point grading. Many public universities are mischievous and wicked to their students. I don't trust results from private schools and universities in Nigeria. The lecturers tend to award undeserving grades to their students so as to promote the school's image. They are more like 'special centres'.That is the mindset many your kind have. Many of your kind have so stereotyped students from private universities out of envy and jealousy. Thank Covenant University has stand out among other public universities in Nigeria. Put these so called first class graduates in a competition with their peers from government universities and they can't defend themselves. They will do better. Infact many companies are recruiting them more than public schools because many public graduate are half baked. Many of them lacks skills that can make them stand out. |

lonelydora:That is a fat lie from the pit of hell. 2.2 in many federal or state university is a result of the following; 1. Nonchanlant attitude of many students 2. Many department reduces the student's mark 3. Wicked lecturers. All these above is rare in many private universities. Infact our public universities are in shamble. |
