A fair assessment of Buhari's and Atiku's chances in the 2019 elections

This analysis is hypothetical, but akin to the electoral college system practiced in many countries. It may still consists of lapses but still better than emotional permutations which most people (especially here) are fond of doing.

Here, Nigeria is divided into six (6) geopolitical regions and each region is allocated 100% which will later equate to 100 points. It does not mean you have all the votes in the region, but like the electoral college system you take all the points allocated to that region if you have higher presence/advantages or votes. And, in the event where there's a perception of a tight race, the votes or points are split 50/50 between contenders.

Here we go:

BUHARI

North East: 100%
North West: 100%
North Central: 50%
South West: 100%
South East: 0%
South South: 0%

Total = 350 Points

ATIKU

North East: 0%
North West: 0%
North Central: 50%
South West: 0%
South East: 100%
South South: 100%

Total = 250 Points

So, by this methodology, it could be seen that Atiku would have 250 points as against Buhari's 350 points, and therefore, by that Buhari is expected to trounce Atiku by as much as 100 points.

As you BuhaRebuild and Atikulate, remember you first heard it here.

You tried but you need to know that in politics polls doesn't matter even in US where we more educated lads that can't be bought with a token and handkerchiefs the election was an irony of the predicted poll by the so called experts.

APC and PDP have party structure in every state. So it won't be easy for someone to have 100 points in a region.

How is this supporting Buhari? That's why I stated in the beginning that this isn't emotionally-laden. We all would want what we wished to be, but reality may be different.

First of all you are wrong to think Buhari will get 100 percent on the Southwest and 50 percent in the north central , it clearly shows you are just joking

SW 100% for Buhari? I pity you...

Buhari won SW not because SW likes Buhari or because he has something to offer but because SW was angry with GEJ, automatically Bubu benefitted from that. So for you to think bubu will get 100% vote in SW come next year means you live in illusion.

Same goes for NE!

That's why I told you it's a permutation akin to the electoral college system. Whoever is likely to win a zone is given the 100 points for that region, and the points added for him. This is better than many systems, in that it's more real and balances itself since your opponent is also given 100% points where he's strong.

Mark it, nothing could be further from this permutation, unless there's rigging.

Pragmatism entails looking out for yourself. A dislike for GEJ could be a factor, so also whose interest is being served best. Ask yourself: Why would a SWner go for GEJ and Sambo when he has Osinbajo in Buhari's radar? For the same reason, why would he still go for Atiku/Obi, when it's human nature that he'd best feel at home (even if it's just the feeling) with Osinbajo.

Parties try to rig in areas where they are powerful. It could either be one of the big two, but best practices from the umpire is likely to neutralize any effects of such actions.

Whatever is said won't be easily believed by those who've made up their minds. I eagerly wait for the electioneering campaigns to begin. We will see who'll pull the most crowds in the NE, NC NW and SW.

Crowds are tests of popularity, which may translate to voting strengths.

Many Igbos don de touch for brain now dem believe Yoruba is sincere enough to love them more than ourselves or probably they believe the insult they n Ipob have being dishing out to Yoruba will cajole us to vote for Atiku/Obi. I simply can not comprehend it.

Any region that's is assumed a particular party will win outrightly with any margin greater than 50%, the party is giving 100% in that region. He never said a single party will get all the vote cast in a particular zone

In most cases, definitely.

Our times, resources and efforts are mostly expended towards objects of our desires. I wouldn't go to an Atiku rally, if it were to be in my territory, even if bused, but a Buhari one I'll pay with my own resources to be there.
