The poster should go through page 1 of the thread or search through the thread.

People hardly research this days... i just don't know why.

Totally agree with you. Folks rarely search for info. Stroll in. Ask a GENERIC question. Thread running like a bullet train with repetitions.
Imagine asking for Inspector Moshood number for PCC! Just wish we can use the search bar up there to locate treasure-chest of curated facts, templates and advice.
It will surely end well.

I totally agree with this opinion. It all depends on your long term plans.

If you are willing to come back to the uncertainty in this country after enjoying the good life temporarily "in the abroad" for 3.5 years.. then you can go on...

But like @fmsimple said... you can always get another scholarship again.. and at that point, it becomes a win-win situation for you.

So weigh your options well

Congratulations on your PhD scholarship. You have a good problem and it really boils down to your long-term goals.
If I were to be in your shoes, and if I have a good CRS score (450+), I'll go for PPR. I can always get another scholarship as PR.
Best wishes.

I've got 481 CRS score with 3yrs experience from 2 different NOCs. Although I intend to claim points for 20months. CRS would stand at 456.

Why I'm concerned is because I've really worked hard for 2years to get this offer.

Hi All,

I took the IELTS exam on Oct 27th for the first time and below are my results:

Listening: 9.0
Reading: 9.0
Speaking: 9.0
Writing: 7.5

I spent less than 5 hours in total preparing for this exam and I focused only on speaking & writing as I was told those were the difficult sections.

I only watched YouTube videos and recommend the IELTS videos by Jay for writing & IELTS videos by Liz for speaking.

Also for writing make sure to use FANBOYS (For/As/Nor/But/Or/Yet/So) in addition to the complex words Jay will give you.

Good Luck!!!

Everybody come and hear o...... it is not PPR but IELTS result. After my second attempt, I just checked my result and LSRW 8.5,8,9,8 MOD.
I had LSRW 8.5,8,9,6 in my first attempt with BC. I'm so happy because God knows that I am not in the mental state to write IELTS again. Thanks JobsInIT for the resources you gave me, they helped a lot and everyone who encouraged me after my first try, may God bless you all. On to the next stage.

Congrats Dear

Life happens.
But just like its been said, what is the assurance that EE or other paths to Canada will be widely open by the time you're ready in 2023.
Do you think you will live in peace and tranquility for 2yrs with yourself when you're back in Naija in 2021 before becoming eligible to apply for Canadian immigration.
I'll advice you to do a SWOT analysis of both options for a clearer picture. All the best.

Hi Fam,

Congrats to all PPR clinchers.

I'm in a serious fix and I need some advise.

1. I'm about to enter the pool.
2. Just got a phd scholarship offer (for 3.5years) that requires I return to my country at the end of the programme, and stay for 2 years without
getting a work permit abroad or applying for a permanent residency.

Beloved brethren, what does a brother do at this time of need... Do I;

i. Reject the offer and wait for PPR. (At least I can derive some consolation from my present job (although I'm not really happy with what's
going on there at the moment)
ii. ...
iii ...

I need some ideas please.

Thanks a billion.

You can get a PhD scholarship in Canada with your PPR (in fact, you'll pay local fees if you dont get a scholarship), but can you get PPR after 3-4 yrs doing this PhD?

The ball is in your court.

Hmm. Too much good options.

Oya, let's do some emotional commentating (this one is solicited for):

1. 3.5yrs Ph.D overseas + 2yrs in Nigeria = 2019 - 2025.
at the end of 2025, you have Nigerian passport + foreign Ph.D
options after:
a. stay and continue to develop Nigeria (very necessary, someone must do it)
b. try and immigrate to:
i. Canada, but Conservatives could be in power and might have reduced immigration levels + you will have lost 30 points which will
degrade the points you get from Ph.D.
ii. Try out UK, Australia and US immigration, but immigration is already hard, might still be hard.
iii. On the flip side, immigration abroad might be easier. So only God knows. It is an unknown to us.

2. Apply for Canada EE now,
a. 2019: get COPR, land and become a PR. Find employment or continue your Ph.D dream.
b. 2023: after completing your residency, apply and become a Canadian citizen.
at the end of 2023 you have Nigerian passport + Canadian passport + freedom to go anywhere in world and be anything.

If it was me, I will pick option 2. But I'm not you, I'm not in your shoes, I don't know how important the Ph.D is to you and what you have invested. I don't know your hopes and dreams, I don't know your calling. Maybe God has called you for such a time as this to prepare you to transform Nigeria in years ahead.

You need to look deep and decide what you really want at the end of the day for you and your family. After all, you kept on pursuing the Ph.D dream even while you were planning for Canada. God bless and give you wisdom. Teach us to number our days so our hearts might know wisdom!

See ehh people need to be logical o. Someone volunteered to take away the stress and expense of going to WAEC. When it's time to pay up you are singing a different tune, even after seeing photo evidence. Why are people like this? Please let us apply wisdom when doing things. This is the reason why people don't help others.

Relationship manager should fly. Search for the appropriate NOC.
469 is good enough. Good luck!
Darlken:
Hi Guys,

Ok here is my case. I have a Masters from Yankee. Worked in a bank for three years before I left the country. Will the job I did as a Relationship Manager count? That was in July 2016. Till date, I have not done any professional job. I also have my PMI, PMP. I just took the IELTS and my results were LRWS 8,7.5,7,7. Will that count? or do I need to resit? I have used the CRS tool and it's giving me 469.
Please, I need help, I've been battling depression and leaving the US is my only solution. Naija is not an option. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can help save a drowning brother

Use the crs tool to run different scenarios: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

You can include your NYSC emperience (if it is NOC 0,A or B) which will give you the 1yr required experience. You can also run the scenario of your hubby being the PA.

Pls, I need clarification. I have 9month work experience as a bank teller though my b.ed and m.ed is in guidance counselling which is skill level A but I don't have work experience in teaching.I have masters but currently unemployed. Noc 6551 is for bank tellers which is skill type C not eligible for federal skilled worker in express entry. Hubby doesn't have master's but he has work experience. We are yet to take ielts. He has first degree. Who should be principal applicant? I was thinking if the Atlantic immigration pilot program is viable for me as a principal applicant. Pls I need assistance.

I just called WES now because of this argument and the lady made me understand that the ECA evaluation package comes with the ICAP advantage automatically. This means that WES will store my verified transcripts in their database for life.

So if i want to upgrade to a course by course evaluation, i will pay 100cad after now and my evaluation will be upgraded but that WES can ask for my WAEC if i have not submitted previously.

She also said i should not have sent the scratch card as WAEC is still required to verify the results by email before WES can accept it. Its like the scratch card policy has not been finetuned.

That is why it is always good to contact the agencies responsible for things like this, not relying on hearsey and speculations. BTW you said earlier that they "WES" said you must submit another credentials for Course By Course is that correct? Pardon me if I got you wrong.
