This project was awarded in 1985

Obasanjo is the brain behind rail construction since 1999

To be frank PMB Achievements in 3 Years is more than 16 years of waste by PDP

The truth is that considering how far Jonathan went (from the scratch) with the Abuja - Kaduna standard gauge and Abuja metro between 2011 and 2015, I dare say that Jonathan or any other president would still have completed these projects by now. For crying out loud, it's already 3½ years since Buhari took over power.

I will only commend Buhari for completing this project, cos for whatever reasons best known to Jonathan, he didn't want to finish it despite that the tracks had been fully laid even before his administration began. I guess it had something to do with the fact that the main reason why the project was started is still far from materialising.

The Warri - Itakpe project was meant to connect Ajaokuta steel plant to Warri (Aladja) steel plant and also seaport for the exportation of steel products manufactured at Ajaokuta. It wasn't constructed primarily for movement of people, as the 2 towns involved don't have that much human population to warrant such an expensive project being executed when major cities in Nigeria were yet to be linked by rail.
Buhari and Amechi chose to complete it simply to take glory for it. In reality, as long as Ajaokuta steel plant hasn't started working, the rail line won't be very useful yet, except the line is taken further to Abuja.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has officially announced the commencement of its free train ride service along the completed Itakpe - Warri line.

This service will run free of charge up till December 2018.

This is the third Standard Gauge rail line completed by this administration after the Abuja - Kaduna rail and Abuja Metro. While the Lagos-Ibadan rail will be completed in the next few months.

Let Nigerians know that they can now enjoy this service.
Lies, nothing of such..the flyover at Ojewu isn't yet completed. These are political formallity. I live in Ovwian

A master degree holder an iliterate? A man who can read and write, went to 2 different military schools outside Nigeria (India and the US) an iliterate?

Please what Is the definition of an illiterate? Need to find out something..
Perfectionist11:
This Buhari might be an illiterate, but in terms of project execution and delivery Nigeria has never had it better.

If his dream of connecting every region through rail transportation is achieved, it would do wonders for the economy; a tomato trader/farmer conveying his goods from Kano to Lagos would only spend 5,000 naira plus on transport instead of the usual 15,000 by road - which ultimately leads to an increase in profit, a decrease in price of locally made goods and a substantial decrease in cost of living.

In a country where industrialization is needed, it is a pity that we are so far behind in basic social infrastructures e.g rail transport, good roads, stable electricity e.t.c . The presence of these things is sacrosanct as industries cannot survive without them.

Although, the government is the biggest employers of labour in most countries, it is not the responsibility of the government to provide jobs. Their responsibility is to provide a conducive environment for business to thrive by investing massively in infrastructure. The presence of these social infrastructures will attract foreign investors who, in turn will employ the citizens of the country.

...buhari goofed! the rail track was meant for cargoe transport from the north central to its shortest sea port at warri, the project initiators are the same set of people that set up d ajaokuta, steel complex. nd export of the steel made plus other export inclined goods from d region was d first plan. if buhari is interested in moving people, he knows nigeria' s biggest people migration routes in nigeria.........stupid project!
