Congratulations!!!

Stonebreaker01:
Finally, the Eagle has landed!
it's PPR!

Hubby and I can finally have a fantastic night's rest grin , I had a strong belief that part 5 will not end without my PPR testimony and it didn't.

Timeline below

Decision to travel March 2017 ( Was single then)
IELTS with BC April 2017
IELTS was passed at first attempt 9,8,8,7.5
ECA took about 6 months between NASU strike and IQAS
Got married in Dec 2017 and joined the pool as a couple with me being the PA
Hubby was on the journey before we met, had IELTS and ECA already
CRS score 477
ITA was JAN 5
AOR March 29
Proof of fund was FD which was maturing in 2 months and the balance was from my savings account.
Med passed April 12
Then the wait began ...............

Ordered 3 GCMS notes in between... 3rd yet to arrive
1st and 2nd had similar info note, one of my job references wasn't used so points dropped to 452 but was still good, so I didnt bother about CSE.
Visa office: initially London, moved to kyiv in August.

Started raising CSE and sending mails to Kyiv after 180 days post AOR and didn't really get very helpful feedback except to keep checking profile.
1st Ghost Update 16th Oct
2nd Oct, Kyiv contacted my office to confirm my employment status, HR replied same day.
5th Oct, status changed to NA
6th Oct, changed back to IP1

2nd Ghost update 8th Oct at about 2pm
9th Oct, status changed to IP2 about 2pm
Then at 3:45pm I got an email from CIC, opened my account and behold Passport Request Message, I was alone at the time, I didn't even know how to behave cheesy

We have been under a lot of pressure to get PPR so we can land in Canny before our baby who is on the way arrives or airline refuse to carry me lol. I just want to say a big thank you to God who makes all things beautiful in its time and a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I discovered this thread about 3 months after applying and every PPR testimony shared really encouraged me to be hopeful.

God bless you all.

Personally I like to appreciate the great people here that drop valuable information and those that answer questions, even the 'lazy' questions. It's a sacrifice to do these for people you might never meet in life.

I have good news!!!!!

My wife(primary applicant)and I aced our ielts, our CRS without my ECA is 442. However, my ECA will be out anytime soon, if we enter the pool today and do not make the next cutoff, can I add my ECA when it's out?

The reason why we need to enter the pool already is that my wife's birthday is coming later this month.

Yes you can update your profile while in the pool. With 442 you have high chance of getting ITA next week if her birthday doesn't come before then. Please enter the pool sharply.

@aworldcitizen's case has shown us tough cases crumble like paper before God. We will rejoice with your ppr testimony soon.

You have a good point on the lack of interview info on this thread. It could be because some of such cases are nerve racking and also personal. We look forward to learning from your experience in your set time. Hang in there

Congrats to those who have gotten their PPR and a big thanks to those keeping this thread alive.

I have a little grey area I'll need some help clarification on. @bigfido @ladyay @kayvann or anyone who has applied as self employed, kindly help with this. I have gone through the major parts of the threads (part1-5) but this area still seems unclear. Kindly permit me to itemize my concerns so others can easily go through.

Regarding the proof of self employment i.e written notes/letters from clients, payment from clients etc.
1. How is this supposed to be?
2. Do I contact clients from way back, say 3 years ago to provide these letters?
3. If yes, what format should this letter be?
4. How many of these letters from past clients will be sufficient to show that one has over 3 years experience has a freelancer/registered business owner?
5. Kindly provide any other advice or tips as you deem fit.

A very big thanks in advance. May God bless you and help us all. Anticipating a response.

PS: I am a web/mobile developer. Been freelancing since January 2015 then registered my business in January 2017.

Excerpt from CIC for self-employment -

"if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience)."

I'll suggest you obtain reference letters from clients who can mention your duties and services provided, and perhaps monies involved.

Perhaps you include invoices addressed to those clients, bank statements and income tax returns.
May include 3-4 references covering 2016-2017.
Best wishes.

Good day everyone. I have a challenge please. I tried using DHL to send my WAEC scratchcard to WES Canada, and they charged me N23,500 which I think is overpriced. Does anyone know of any cheaper and reliable alternatives?
Also does WES mean we should literally write our REFERENCE NUMBER on the scratchcard or the envelope? Thank you

Yes. Literaally write on the back of scratch card. Why dnt u look for a group dt wants to send deirs instead of sending urs alone and spending mote. Thats how i sent mine. A group of 14 people and thankfullly wes has received it

Praise to the Lord the Almighty the king of creation!
Gather round people, it's PPR!

Below is my timeline
Decision to travel August 2017.
Family of 5
Visa office: initially London, moved to kyiv in August.
IELTS: September 2017.
My IELTS was written once and was perfect 9,8,8,8.
Spouse IELTS 7.5,7.5,7,7
ECA: Masters Nov 2017
Entered the pool Dec.
ITA January
AOR January 17th 2018
Medical Passed Feb 11th 2018
IP1 Feb 12th 2018
IP2 Feb 27th 2018
Then silence. Not even a single ADR.
Ordered 1st GCMS notes April 2018 everything looked perfect.
Then complete silence.
Ordered 2nd GCMS notes July 2018, this never arrived
Wrote Raplh who confirmed Eligibility and Security not yet started.
More silence, not even a ghost update
October 3rd 2018 ordered 3rd set of GCMS notes. Arrived Nov. 1st. Still same as April notes. My file had not been touched since March 2018. Eligibility and Security not yet started.
Wrote a 3rd mail to Ralph on Nov 4th who was gracious enough to respond (Ralph responds only once). He confirmed that my eligibility and security was not yet started and my application cannot be expedited.
Nov 8th, like a dream ! my PPR!

Checked email and profile this morning and saw nothing.

By 2pm during my lunch break, I saw a mail notification, I wanted to ignore but decided to check.

I saw a mail from donotreply@cic.gc.ca that I have an update on my profile. I was excited, that finally I am getting a ghost update / adr.

I logged into my cic acct and saw my profile was updated. I was so excited, thinking it was just a ghost update and that finally my file was receiving attention. I wanted to log out but I felt the nudge to proceed and click on view complete application which I did.

Nothing seemed to have changed, my background check was still in process, I was about to log out again, when I felt that urge to scroll further down to the mail section.

I saw I had a new mail, titled request letter. I already concluded that it was an ADR for fresh bank statement. Love and behold, it was the almighty PPR.

I wasn't expecting it to come without an ADR for updated POF since my application had been pending for almost 10months. I lost appetite immediately, and was was just screaming. I couldn't share the news with my colleagues, so I just lied to them that my husband got a new job!.

I am immensely grateful to God Almighty who did not put me to shame. Delay is not denial. Though it tarries, it must surely come.

Thank you all for all the love and support.

Off to take my pictures and submit tomorrow.

This year has been so challenging. hubby and I lost our jobs, all our money tied at POF, we were feeding from Hand to mouth and struggled to pay school fees. Infact this September, we had to change their schools to a very cheap school.

God bless you all.

Verily verily I say unto you, there's a God in heaven, and he loves me. Despite my karambulous ways. I wrote my first IELTS in June, and although the result wasn't bad, it wasn't what I needed. I had:
L 8.5
R 7.5
W 7.0
S 7.5
Needless to say I was downcast, mainly because I had to max out the scores. I have no extra certificates or any hope of getting one soon due to work schedule couple that with the fact that my next minus5pointsday(formerly known as birthday) is in exactly 9months from today.

I refired and wrote again on October 27th. I had just one week to prepare, so I only focused on my writing and reading. Long story short, result don Comot and I had
L 8.5
R 9.0
W 7.5
S 8.0
I have never experienced this type of happiness. I always thought people were exaggerating when they say that they were shedding tears of joy. Ladies and genrumen of the high table na so your guy cry him first tears of joy today oo, I couldn't hold myself ni Sha. E be like Africa magic.

I saw a post on this thread about the prayer of St Joseph of Cupertino, so I said the prayer before going in for the the exam even though I no be catholic. It's a prayer for exam takers. The condition is that you must tell people about the prayer when you achieve your desired result. So people please pray the prayer of St Joseph of Cupertino oo.

For the listening test, practice as much as you can, then Identify your weakness and work on it. For me it was the map reading. I found a resource on YouTube, a guy named nirhav. He posts different sections of the listening test on his page.

For reading, just work on your synonyms. Everything you need to pass IELTS reading you already know.

For writing, just make your sentences as complex as possible. Make sure you understand what the question requires, that's the first step to getting it right.

Speaking: just gist. And lie plenty plenty. Me I just imagined I was toasting the lady because she fine no be small.

IELTS has ended in praise, e remain ECA. IQAS sent me AOR2 on 18th Oct.

The man who wins is the man who thinks he can. It all starts from your mind oo, If you think you can, then you most definitely can, and if you can't, you definitely can't in short, no jupiter can make you win.

I also had a paper cutout in my pocket where I wrote my desired score. I carried everywhere since July. My score was almost what I wrote down except for reading where I surpassed my expectation(8.0)

The prayer of St Joseph of Cupertino

This powerful prayer is very effective in examinations. It has to be said before appearing in the examination. There are two variants to this prayer. Both the prayers are equally effective. You can choose any one of these:

First Prayer
O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favour in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.
Through Christ our Lord.
St. Joseph of Cupertino, Pray for us.
Amen.

Second Prayer
O St. Joseph of Cupertino who by your prayer obtained from God to be asked at your examination, the only preposition you knew. Grant that I may like you succeed in the (here mention the name of Examination eg. History paper I ) examination. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.
O St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me
O Holy Ghost enlighten me
Our Lady of Good Studies pray for me
Sacred Head of Jesus, Seat of divine wisdom, enlighten me.

Remember, when you succeed in the exams then you should thank St. Joseph of Cupertino in the Newspaper.
