And when the evidence to help get other perpetrators had been set ablaze, how does the shop owner avoid a subsequent reprisal attack?

Say no to jungle justice. At least he would have been able to know through investigation what made the hoodlums chose his shop in the first place, and several other answers to so many questions running through his mind about the occasional attacks on him would have been offered through the investigation.

Not only that, he lost the opportunity of being compensated. Who knows if that criminal had been spared and investigated he may be mandated by the court to pay some compensations to the shop owner?

...he has been robbed and kidnapped by this same gang meaning they know him well (location of work place even house address)

...the police will not in any way further investigate

...the police will not provide witness protection program for him and his family.

..those who joined to lynch will not be held accountable when a case of revenge comes calling

am sorry to say, that man has put him, his livelihood and his family in grave danger , I hope he enjoyed the smell of burnt flesh, he might be next

when these deadly criminals are handed over the police many of them bribe their way out and in some cases they come back to exert their revenge on those same communities.i am not a supporter of jungle justice oo but if u a youngman dey carry gun dey rob and murder innocent citizens then accept anything that comes their way.

Now that he has been burnt to death, how will the remaining members of the gang would be known and brought to justice? There is no sense in what they did to him, whatsoever.
I don't blame those barbarians. I blame the authorities that have failed. About 2 months ago, in the same cross river, an alleged thief was burnt to death this same manner. Supposing the perpetrators had been arrested and made to face the wrought of the law, these people will be cautioned themselves before carrying out another jungle justice.

him and the trader were struggling and during the struggle he shot the trader in the hand and the trader held on to him and shouted till others came and overpowered him.it says so in d story.see if u have been a victim of armed robbery and witnessed armed robbery u wont be saying all these things u saying.why pity an armed robber?

i have witnessed a few incident where bad guys are handed over to the police u still see them back on the streets.u talking of our courts grin

our judiciary that is so corrupt that u can even buy evidence grin

abegi no instituition is functional in nigeria anymore and dats why u see ppl have lost faith in them.
