Buhari always feel the old days are better than the future. Someone should tell him whatever it is Nigeria used in the production process in the so called good old days are now obsolete and outdated.

We do not need the good old days. Take us to the future. Simple

I could remember many of my classmates parent back in 2013 in Kaduna who were textile workers lost their jobs and situation got so bad that some of them couldnt cater for their children's needs anymore....It was indeed disastrous when Textile factories in Kaduna were shot down due to lack of funds as millions of Nigerians were rendered jobless. I really commend the President for its assurance to take us back to the good old days of the textile industries as it will go a long way in creating jobs to millions of Nigerians.

Sir, the problem with textile in Nigeria is that imported fabric is far cheaper and of better quality than our local fabrics. What the govt needs to do is introduce infrastructure that would reduce cost of production. If we can provide electricity, all these industries will grow cos market dey here

Exactly how one boy ranted when Buhari and his nephew, the minister of aviation promised to revive the Nigerian Airways at the launch of the logo and when i reminded him that Buhari who had a penchant for failing at promises will fail again, he openly challenged me to a bet. Till date am still looking for the guy's moniker. Do you mind placing a bet. If by may 29 2019 he he hasn't fulfilled this promise, how much

Buhari till 2099...telling Buhari to leave aso rock,is like telling Donald trump to retract his immigration policies.
quickberry:
President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, in Abuja, pledged the commitment of his administration to revive the ‘good old days’ when the cotton and textile industry employed hundreds of thousands of Nigerians.
Receiving the CEO of Vlisco Group, David Suddens, at the Presidential Villa, President Buhari welcomed the proposed investment of $200 million by the company in Nigeria, which will, in turn, create 700,000 jobs.

''I am very much aware of your company’s effort especially your investments in the textile industry, and it is one area that we are trying to develop because it will create employment and boost agriculture.

''To get cotton to grow again in the country is like going back to the good old days when the textile industry used to employ more than hundreds of thousands of people.
''I am very excited about the prospects of reviving the industry because it will keep farmers busy, create employment which brings more security, help the economy, transfer of technology and of course we have a large market to absorb the products,'' the President said.

President Buhari reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to forging a stronger economic partnership with the Netherlands, assuring the Dutch investor that the Nigerian authorities will continue to do the utmost to keep smugglers at bay at borders.

In his remarks, Suddens told the President that the 172-year-old company plans to use cotton grown in Nigeria for production.

''I want a new strategy that brings Vlisco manufacturing to Nigeria. I want to change the supply chain from Asia to Nigeria.

''For the total supply chain for cotton, textile and garment industry from weaving, spinning, printing to retail, we want to use Nigeria cotton and we have already started to encourage the creative industries in the country to find a voice and give them a platform across the world.

''I am convinced that it is time for the textile industry to move from Asia to Africa, '' he said.

Also speaking, the Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Robert Petri told President Buhari that the company’s visit was a follow-up to his successful visit to the Netherlands in July, during which he met with Chief Executive Officers of Dutch companies.

''Also during that visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between our two countries seeking more intensified cooperation. After that visit, there were more successive visits by top Dutch officials to Nigeria.

''This shows that we are seriously committed to furthering our collaboration,'' Petri said.

Like the Lagos-Ibadan expressway that is now about 70% completed which PDP abandoned for 16 years. Also like the Lagos-Ibadan railway that is about 60% completed which PDP never ever dreamt of. Like the Abuja intra-city railway which PDP started and could not finish but Buhari has completed and opened it for use. I think you need another brain, the one you have has expired.

Lagos - Ibadan exp way: 70% completed? What percentage was it before he took over? 45% or so.

Railway line which the previous govt had started and made its funding available before leaving. Even amaechi confessed that it was almost completed before they took over. Buhari even commissioned the same exact train Jonathan had already commissioned. I can search for the pics.

Mark my wards. Till Buhari leaves office, he can't boast of one thing he started and finished. Its not a surprise the national airline he tried to start died at the logo stage after consuming over N1billion. Like someone said, the only way that airline would have worked under Buhari is if GEJ and his team had floated the idea, got the technical partners, bought the planes and made the counterpart funds available before leaving for Buhari to come commission and take glory. But for Buhari and his incompetent cabinet to conceive and see it to success? You can bet on them to always fall hand

during the good old days,I used to see industries along the isolo oshodi expressway -some of my elders were working in those companies -now they have been turned to churches.

the moment we opened the flood gates and started importing everything under the sun we were doomed. Just a few months ago I walked into a bar owned by a Nigerian and he won't sell me a bottle of star, instead he wanted me to buy a bottle of imported whiskey. Now,the irony wasn't lost on me (we have lost our souls). Because I then went to a bar owned by a SA and had my fill of star -I was even given some cashew nuts to chew on (written all over that tin was made in nigeria).

there is no future without a solid past -we need to retrace our steps and start from the basics. Those cotton farms would bring employment to thousands -hopefully we would revive our garment industry along the way (the asians were partly responsible for the collapse of that industry with their cheap imports).
